Is there a definitive source that gives a breakdown of the African diaspora by country in the Americas?
For example, in the U.S., I've read that Igbos were predominant in Maryland and Virginia, and that Bantus were brought to Suriname (Dutch Guiana). How about the different islands in the Anglophone Caribbean? Countries in Central America? South America? Spanish-speaking Caribbean? Haiti? It would be great if there was a map showing the trail from individual African nations/ethnicities to different locations in the Americas. |

Is there a definitive source that gives a breakdown of the African diaspora by country in the Americas? South America probably Angola all the way to Gabon, Spain and Portugal shared ports. Sourcing in the slave trade. It gets murky as it became commoditised. ![]() |
