I would love some english sources on this as i am not very familiar with Etruscan gender roles..sorry for the late reply by the way.. Etruscan women can lead in Politics, Religion. They had the control of the domestic economy and they could keep their maiden surname after married. If if find something in English i will post here. Anyway if you search "Etruscan society women" you find a lot of information in Google. The typical historical trend is clear, that women had less political and social rights then men.. About the social rights it is related to violence, past societies were based in violence and men is naturally physical stronger. Once the societies became more capitalist the women got a higher status. There are a lot of societies in the past were women had equal position in the society. There could be no democracy without women rights being elevated from what it was prior to universal suffrage, it has nothing to do with being a women, it has to do with being equal in rights to men.. I am against the feminist politicians that profit from that label. Most of the right of the women were created by right wing parties. |
