They definitely can be brown, and i've noticed that Manuel is a popular portuguese name. I don't consider them to be "hispanic", but I know many others do and will call them Non-white.

To me, a white person is a native european or slavic person, and that's it. I don't think semites are white whether they be jewish or arabic.


Whites have a cool medieval history, but other than that i don't see why anyone would want to be grouped with them.

If anyone, i'd rather be grouped with Jews. They, along with Indians seem to be most consistently smart people in my experience. Whites can also be very violent and aggressive people. I don't take a fancy to those qualities.

I always thought white was more suited for Americans. IMO Europeans have too much history and thousands of years of culture to accept such a classification. When i think white i think bastadized hybrid culture & mixed new world caucasians.

The definition of White changes from context to context. Some of my relatives on my mothers side of the fam would be considered "White" in some parts of the Caribbean because of thier light skin, because in the Caribbean context of "White", it means light skinned or pred European.

I think in most layman's cases. "White" means European, or looks similar to a European.

I grew up sans this idea of whiteness nor do I understand most MENA groups that wish to be seen white. There is a rather strong pro-Euro sentiment among modern Georgians but it's mostly about ciltural similarities/connections and not phenotypes and at the end of the day most Georgians still identify as Caucasians (in the senese that they are natives of Caucasus). At the end of the day I think "white" should be reserved for New Worlders of European extraction. MENAs can be "half-white"

On outward appearances, Dr. Oz passes as white pretty much anywhere in the US, while Cenk Uygur and Kim Kardashian are racially ambiguous in middle America. That's without factoring ethnic names, foreign accents or religions, etc. How they get perceived depends on what ethnic group they get mistaken for.. Italian, Greek, Mexican, Arab, etc.

Anyway I find the whole whiteness thing ironic because I have spent my life being viewed as white, even though I'm actually 3/4 white and 1/4 East Asian. So I have had so many experiences informing, reminding, etc. people that no, I'm not white, hey shut the fuck up, I can make jokes about rice rocket Hondas with decals and coffee can mufflers without being called racist by your fat pasty white yankee ass, no I'm not going to help you fight those gooks you talked shit to, why would I do that, I don't even know your black ass, etc.

So when I come to a forum like this and see people trying so hard to be white, it just boggles my mind.

From an American perspective, Dr. Oz looks like a foreign white guy from Europe, Cenk Uygur looks like he might be Mexican. 99% of Americans have no clue what the hell a West Asian or Central Asian is. Turk or Chechen = white or Mexican, Kazakh = Chinese.

Russia- white looking= white, non= Asian
Arab/Turk non-muslim= white, muslim= non white
Latino white looking= white
Latino latino looking= non white
Mixes: more than 75% white=white
25%-75%= mixed
