Inspired by the Why are us black people so hated? thread.
The titles of these 2 threads are practically synonyms, right? |

Man, I just have a thing for drunk drivers. And rapists have that mysterious vibe. "Surprise sex" oooh wee.
And I just love it when a serial killer shows me the bag of human limbs at his place. Interesting date. -____________________- I've heard of innocent children being killed by the recklessness of drunk drivers. The woman that got raped in a shopping center close to where I live in 2008 was someone's mother. And people that kill for fun... were never loved and inspired to dream of bigger better things. It's not that we hate them, it's that we hate the things they do like Jibaro said. In fact, criminals need more love than anyone else because the reason most of them do these wretched things is because they lacked love in their childhood. |

I dont hate drug addicts, I see them as weak and pathetic individuals who have a problem they cant solve.
And many of us dont really hate criminals either (except for people like Breivik etc). we all have our own drugs, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and we are all criminals, all of us like to speed occasionally, to pay a bit less taxes than we should etc. I think its "expected" from people to hate criminals and drug addicts, but in reality most pl dont hate them. |

Weren't a lot of religious leaders (as they nominally transgressed their social order - blasphemy) technically criminals ? In the Talmudic historiography, even Jesus is made fun of because of his death's circumstances (crucifixion being then used for the worst criminals.)
And throughout history the usage of drugs has been seen as an artistic catalysis for some bright minds. I dont hate drug addicts, I see them as weak and pathetic individuals who have a problem they cant solve. |

Criminals are usually malicious. They mean to hurt others. Non-physical criminals (Financial also crimes, for example) also count in this as they wrong other people, too. If people act as if they don't care, why wouldn't they be hated? Once you've shown that you can do something to another human being without remorse...Even after having served hard time for it, other people may not want anything to do with you because that crime shows the level of care you have for your fellow man. It's a reflection of your inner soul. That sounded gay but ...Meh something like that
![]() I agree that drug addicts are seen as weak. They may have personal problems...But so do the rest of us. We don't all turn to drugs to solve our problems. I wouldn't say people hate drug addicts. I pity them and don't want to be around them. They seem scary and out of control too. They're definitely joked about too(Charlie Sheen, Whitney Houston, etc). *Shrugs. Maybe it's because they're more of a caricature. |

I know many people who wish to empathize with those addicted to substances, but find it so very frustrating because they are constantly disappointed by the user's actions (or lack thereof). Eventually the loved ones grow weary and give up trying to help them. If the substance user is not a loved one, people have even less tolerance, especially when they read about them robbing and stealing - sometimes injuring or killing their victim(s), or when they read about the alcoholic who wrecked and killed an innocent victim, like their own child.

Inspired by the Why are us black people so hated? thread. Anyways: Criminals are hated cause they do acts which normal society shuns and does not approve. Even people who gloat over them (or becomes fan-boys); if they were at the end of the chain of action of the criminal, they would break sphincter damn quick. So it is quite lame to glorify rapists and killers. Drug addicts are hated, cause they move to a position in society where they are "almost" beyond help. Compulsion becomes habit. |
