Default Where Did The Term, "Mira, Mira" Come From?
I remember hearing people use it to refer to Puerto Ricans. I asked this Nuyorican if she knew the term, and she said it's an offensive term.

Ity means "Look, Look"in Spanish, and maybe it is for them, but not for us islanders.

its a slang word for puerto ricans due to many puerto rican kids saying mira mira for anything that they see...i dont know if its offensive like the word spic but it is used in a derogative way in the movie Do The Right Thing by Spike Lee

no i think it actually came from the white people around NYC because they dont understand spanish but they notice that puerto ricans like to yell mira mira so they kind of just used it as an offensive term for puerto ricans

Yeah, that is what I've seen. I haven't heard anyone use it as an insult since I was in high school, though.

Yeah, I have heard that term from the old broadway play called "west side story" hence it brought the term main stream. However anyone with some knowledge of spanish will understand the the term means "look" or just google it.

Actually, "West side story" is one of my favorite plays even though it highlight ethnic stereotypes.

Yes, but I heard it being used towards who are first generation mixed-race (black/white) in the same way people use the word Oreo to describe people who don't act stereotypically Afram. Like brown on the outside and white on the inside.

Brown/black, yes. That's how I'm familiar with it being used. I don't know in what context it's meant in NYNY.
