African diasporans across america

Hey guys. Which diasporans other than African Americans do you see most in your area. Besides aframs what is the next African descended majority here?

Also what type of afro phenom is most common? I was looking around me. There's pretty much every diasporan here but while aframs are diverse all others are not very varied.

What are you talking about? That's a very dumb statement...I think you need to check out my threads with Belizean's 23andMe results again (P.S., they all live in the US). There's Trinidadians, Guyanese, Jamaicans (to an extent) that will laugh at your statement.

As for your question/statement that actually made sense: Haitians and Anglo-Caribbeans actually ARE the majority of "Black" people in Brooklyn...

You should ask people where they are from when they answer the question.

New York City
The best way to answer your question is, "What don't I see?" LOL.
There aren't many Cape Verdeans here although I grew up in a CV neighborhood when I lived in Massachusetts, so I'm quite familiar with them.

There are so many Diasporans here that I am beginning to have trouble identifying where they're from. When only African American/blacks, and people from the Anglo West Indies were common, it was easier.

There are a lot of West Africans here as well.

Jamaicans, Haitians, other Black Anglophone Caribbeans in Broward and all of that + Black Spanish speakers in Miami-Dade.

In my area it's mostly Aframs, followed by Ethiopians and black Anglophone Caribbean folks.

Where are you located?

In LA, its an overwhemingly Afram majority with many of LA Creole heritage, followed by Belizeans, Ethiopians, and West Africans.

Maybe you didn't get my statement you could've avoided the side asshole comment. Anyway I was talking about pheno Caribbeans, and Africans here have very similar pheno and you don't see many variations as you do in aframs.

You prolly think they're Afrikan or Caribbean Anglophones or Haitians. I know for a fact some are there because my homegirl is a Black Colombian who lives in VA and has family in Elizabeth, NJ. People usually think she's Haitian.

Overlord 06-17-2012 07:01 AM

Last time I checked all the Dominicans and Puerto Ricans I know don't identify as black or African Diaspora even when they look the part so are they even included?

Oh maybe so. If I lived there I probably would meet more. A Colombian girl agreed with me but she don't seem into afro Colombians. When I asked her, I got a weird answer.

Clunlippibe 06-17-2012 07:42 AM
