Default Arian Foster says he's a vegan
Less than a month before training camps open, Houston Texans star Arian Foster says he's gone vegan.
Foster, who has 32 total touchdowns in three NFL seasons, made the announcement on Twitter last week.

"Officially a vegan now. We'll see how this goes. But week one down. So far, so good. Feels wonderful," the 6-foot-1, 229-pound running back said of giving up any form of animal products.

I've never seen a heathly looking vegan so I we'll see how this goes. They always look pale and depressed.

When he loses his mass we'll see how great he feels.

As soon as he gets stuffed at the line in training camp by a undrafted free agent cornerback he will be back to being a carnivore.

These people all look pale and depressed and massless to me.

I will leave it up to you to look up the numerous posts I have made about vegan and vegetarian athletes on these boards to completely debunk the posts that this thread will engender. I do not want or need to get into this discussion again.

Thats your retort? A bunch of nobodies and the guys who were VEGAN bodybuilders still looked more lean than anything, certainly not football players.

good lord, did Georges Laroque become a vegan late in his career because he went from being a complete animal enforcer to not wanting to fight anyone in one offseason, rendering his career useless.

I could give you hundreds more - as anybody here who took the time to look them up could - but as I said I have already done this excercize here dozens of times already w/o anybody changing their minds on this, so it is not worth my time.
Believe what you want, while everyday athletes everywhere are changing towards these kinds of diets.

If Arian truly sticks with this and produces like he has ill be a believer. Otherwise that list is junk.. I wanna see a vegan run for 1700 yards and 15 tds..

NFL player goes vegan to improve health, performance

Seattle Seahawks guard Deuce Lutui embraces new diet to lose weight and regain his health.

Go ahead and add Seattle Seahawks guard Deuce Lutui to the growing list of National Football League players embracing an animal-free diet for both health and performance.

The 29-year-old, who has struggled with health and weight issues, decided to adopt a vegan diet after failing a physical after signing with the Cincinnati Bengals. (He then resigned with the Arizona Cardinals, where had played for years, but he was demoted to a backup position. He signed with Seattle just last week.)

"He wanted to commit to himself and to his family that he would do everything to take care of himself and take care of them and be the best player he could be," Lutui's agent Ken Harris told ESPN. "As part of that, he met a nutritionist who suggested a vegan diet to him."

After weighing in at 396 pounds in 2010, Seattle announced that Lutui's weight was down to 338 pounds. "He started to see real changes he had not seen previously," Harris said. "Before he knew it, he was slim and trim like a ballerina."

In an interview with Seahawks.com, Lutui said he's not only in the best shape of his life, but that his entire family has also decided to go vegan.

“If you were to go to my house and open up the fridge, you’d see all-vegan, all-natural products," he says. "I’m glad I’ve educated myself about what’s going in my mouth. I’ve educated myself, and that’s what’s causing my fitness and how I’ve really taken care of myself physically. And it’s also taken a toll on me mentally, just to really be disciplined.”

Lutui joins other former and current vegan/vegetarian NFL players like Ricky Williams, Tony Fiammetta, and Tony Gonzalez. To learn more about the protein myth - and how a plant-based diet works well for performance in professional sports, jump here.

Don't believe Prince was ever vegan, just vegetarian, and believe he has stayed that way. Of course we never get follow up stories on these guys in the "mainstream" media unless they "fall offf the wagon" so they can say I told you so.

let's be honest, this guy didn't have to go on a vegan diet to quit being a fat ass. he had to stop eating shitty food in mass quantities.

and he's still a fat ass.

if it is made w/o dairy products, yes. There are a couple great vegan Pizza places in Philly, and there is a non dairy substitute they use called "Daiya" that melts and acts like cheese.

He just went vegetarian.

When he went 'vegatarian', someone in the Brewers clubhouse said he would eat gigantic salads made of iceburg lettuce, piled with Doritos, cheddar cheese, french dressing, and so on.

Yeah, that's not vegan. Or healthy, for that matter.
