It's not necessarily a good decision, because it ultimately should affect it's earning power. Anyway if they replaced it w/ one of those Glitzy Awards Shows, would they not have just as much exposure for the league and the revenues from showing that over and over and over..... |

The serious fan isn't really a concern of the NFL. Serious fans are hooked no matter what. |

I always love the Pro Bowl going back to the 80s early 90s when you could only watch it if you had cable and I didnt, so if I got a chance to see a few Packer helmets running around out there it was always exciting, especially because at that point in my life I had NEVER seen a post season game involving the Packers so the Pro Bowl was it for me. The play has really dropped off but I have never hated it like some of you here that treat it like it fucked your mother, sister and wife or something.

They should have a skills competition instead. Have receivers try to catch a pass thrown from a helecopter, have the quarterbacks try to hit a bunch of moving targets...stuff like that. |

I beg to differ to a degree. The think the NFL is concerned about the serious fan as well as the casual one. Hence the proposal to end the pro bowl. I know its not the only reason why but you would have to imagine that after the last pro bowl the powers that be were thinking, yikes, what a joke. You're right, the serious fan is hooked but if the product that is put out on the field becomes ridiculous than they may not lose any serious fans but it may hinder their interest a bit. I'm always amazed at people who beg for things to be taken off the air. I'm not a fan of 2 1/2 Men, but apparently many people like it, and more power to them. I have the ability to change the channel. They don't have the ability to watch a show that isn't aired. If you don't watch the Pro Bowl, then why are you complaining that it's horrible? Just don't watch it. They aren't going to replace it with a playoff game or regular season game. At least not this year. Basically removing the game just means no break from the Super Bowl storylines. We just went back in time 2 years is all. I have to wonder if this is the beginning of the end for the NFL Network live games. That concession I mentioned the network that carried the Pro Bowl will want, and the way to increase revenues, would be to put that expanded package of Thursday Night games up for sale, and give the network that lost the Pro Bowl right of first refusal--they can match the best offer if they so choose. |

The serious fan is going nowhere. They likely haven't watched the Pro Bowl in years, unless they enjoy it, in which case they'll be saddened that it's gone. |
