The other potential problem aside from the safety issue is that the bounty could be considered additional compensation and thus a salary cap violation.

Brees might wanna get out of town while he still can, not that the Saints will have a franchise tag to use to keep him around once the NFL has their way with them.

If this were the 70s and Goodell weren't running the show, the Saints wouldn't even have been investigated. Anyone think guys like Ronnie Lott or Jack Tatum never had bounties to take out a key player?

The Saints are screwed. How can they be stupid enough to overtly place bounties for "kill shots"

It would not surprise me in the least in the coming weeks if players from that era saying in interviews that this shit happened all the time and no one cared.

Big hits are part of the game. I like seeing big hits. It's part of why I watch football.
Bounties are against the rules.

They broke the rules.

Not only that, the NFL has a salary cap.

What is stopping the owner from putting out bounties?

Or some other rich guy?

Or a gambler from fixing games?

Fuck it, lets just have gamblers run the league.

If they had a "kill bounty" on your favorite player and he was crippled, you would say that?

Okay, let's deal with things that are being reported;

Rich guy hanging around the team giving out bonuses for injured QBs.

All part of the game.

Would you be shocked if he gambled on sports?

From NFL.com

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...content_stream

The memo also said Mike Ornstein, a noted marketing agent who has close ties to Saints head coach Sean Payton and has worked with him on projects in the past, put up money as a bounty at least twice. Because the NFL's official website love to spread rumors

Rules violation.

You know, the same thing as video taping a team practicing.
sure, if you leave out the fact that one sort leads to cheating.
