My point is that he didn't have to prove anything. There were other teams interested in his services. We're not talking about a player just hoping to catch on somewhere. We're talking about the #1 overall pick. All that hard work paid off and he got to cash in on it.

I disagree. There's no guarantees in life besides death and taxes. There have been examples of number 1 picks not having success in the NFL.

Who is talking about a guarantee? I'm talking about the opportunities Eli had in the draft. He knew that he could refuse San Diego's offer and still land elsewhere. He didn't have to prove anything in the NFL to the Giants.
