Ronnie Brown signs with the Eagles

Per Schefter..

I wonder if Ryan down in Dallas is gonna add on to the all hype team rant from earlier?

EvaQWmrm 03-08-2011 03:10 PM

Clearly they are working off the Redskins blueprint which produced so many championships in the last decade.

Underwhelming signing, even thought NFLN and ESPN made a lot of noise about it last night.

Just a name.

Drafted high, but only one 1,000-yard season. [barely]

Injury history, averaged 3.7 per carry last year.

I don't even know if he makes the team, honestly.

Reminds me of Willie Parker last year,

Yawn

ITT: Packer fan smug insecurity.

That must be it.

Because he'd be happy to have Marion Barber's numbers

I love Ronnie Brown. Too bad Miami gave up on the Wildcat last year.

Backup RB.

If that

Please name our current backup RB if its not him.

Name the Redskins backup RB last year when they brought in used-up Parker and Larry Johnson

Brown is a more than serviceable back-up. In no way is he "used-up" like Parker or Johnson. A good friend of mine is a Dolphins blogger and told me Brown looked plenty good last year, unfortunately their interior line was a fucking joke (his words, not mine). Not a single beat writer or blogger for the Dolphins saw him as "washed up", but there were injury concerns. That's why he didn't get any offers like he was hoping and took the chance to win and prove himself with us instead.

Maybe so, but his numbers have been declining, he's missed 16 games due to injury in the last 4 years. He may be decent back-up.

I'm just mystified why this signing gets the attention that it does form the media.

Because we didn't have a back-up before signing him. We had McCoy and a bunch of mini-McCoys. Now we have a back-up who can run between the tackles, but also has the ability to catch passes. It adds a new wrinkle to our offense that we didn't possess otherwise. It's not akin to Asomugha, but it's a significant move by us and we just happen to be in the media spotlight at the moment.

I guess that's it.

But the Bears signed Marion Barber, who has similar career numbers [11 more TDs] and they are called bottom feeders.

It isn't like Barber is going to start either.

With barber's style of running, he has alot more miles on those tires.

Perhaps, but he doesn't have as many games missed as Brown.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I know comparing anybody to the Vikings is the lowest of low blows but this reminds me of the year they got Jared Allen. They hype machine rolled through town just like it's doing in Philly.

Vikings have been off-season champs many times.

are we talking about just the pickup of a backup RB here, or the whole slew of Eagles pickups?

I prefer to take everything the wrong way.

That year in particuliar sticks out because the media was all over their cocks. It's the same stupid overhyped image of Philly right now. I love just sitting back in the shadows knowing the Packers are as solid as a team can be and letting all the media spotlight other teams. obiviously, the truth will come out starting in sept.
