He has the best agent ever...
Source: $78M deal for Donovan McNabb ESPN.com The Washington Redskins and quarterback Donovan McNabb have agreed to a five-year, $78 million extension that could be worth up to $88 million with incentives, a source with knowledge of the agreement told ESPN NFL Insider Michael Smith. The source said $40 million of the deal will be guaranteed. McNabb, who will turn 34 later this month, agreed to an extension just weeks after he was benched at the end of a loss to the Lions because coach Mike Shanahan said the quarterback didn't have a grasp of the teams' 2 minute offense. McNabb, who was traded by the Eagles to the Redskins before the season, faces Philadelphia on Monday night for the second time this season. He led Washington to a 17-12 victory at Philadelphia on Oct. 3. |

This certainly does a lot for the theater of tonight's game though that's for sure. And it also inflates Vick's value. If Vick outplays McNabb tonight, and the Eagles get into the playoffs and do well... that's the benchmark. And Banner won't shell out that kind of cash when Kolb is there (and cheap). |

Halfway through the Redskins' 16-game schedule, McNabb is the NFL's 28th-ranked passer with a 76.0 quarterback rating. He's averaging 246.4 yards per game (No. 13 in the NFL) and has seven touchdowns (tied for No. 26) and eight interceptions (tied for 10th most).
That's the benchmark for 40 MM guaranteed? I wonder what Vick is worth? |
