Well Mcnabb looked pretty good last year (60.3%, 92.3 rating, 3553 yards, better than 2/1 td/int ratio in just 14 games) with a good team around him and his current team is pretty terrible. Get him some play makers and he'll look a hell of a lot better. He's not as old as you probably think. Not much of a line and not much for receivers is pretty tough to deal with. Of course, you have to feel you are getting somewhere in putting your team together to give a qb of his age a contract like this.
Exactly. This isn't a guy you build around now. The ship has sailed.

$40 M guarenteed....I lol'd.

As for smartest agent ever......he has a new one? I never remembered his agent being the smartest ever.

Of course, this is the Redskins.....perhaps the negotiations was a case of the tallest dwarf.

It makes some sense. The Redskins can build around McNabb. They've got a decent defense and some weapons on offense (Moss, Cooley, the Armstrong guy is fast.) Improving the line and bringing in a WR and RB would make the Redskins a pretty legitimate team.
Eli right now is leaps and bounds better than Donovan. Oh and he also has a ring. Palmer's leg got shredded and he hasn't been the same since.

I quoted the wrong post....I'm leaving it though...it's an appropriate misfire for a McNabb thread.

He's 33 and not nearly as mobile as he used to be, throw in the fact that the Redskins arent as talented at WR as the Eagles are I think this is a move in the wrong direction for Washington. Not to mention, he's not like Tom Brady or Peyton. He doesnt deserve this kind of deal regardless of what he did "Last year."

Especially when his HC is pulling him at the end of the game cause his fat ass is too winded..
Why do you put Tom Brady in the same sentence as Peyton Manning? Brady's only thrown over 30 TDs once and has never won a Superbowl that his team wasn't cheating to win.

Eli isn't leaps and bounds better than much of anyone in the league. Unless he was playing D-line for the Giants in that playoffs, he wasn't anywhere near the main reason they won.

Eli goes through periods where he looks amazing and periods where he looks awful. He is not leaps and bounds better than McNabb. When he gets hot, he's awesome -- and that's what happened when they won that Superbowl.

Regardless, he is who he is and as of right now he's the top paid QB in the league. Nevermind the fact that he's a fag and a cheater..

Have you flipped your calendar over yet.....it is almost 2011, not 2010.
So he's struggled this year -- in a new offense, with lesser weapons, and a pretty awful offensive line. The Redskins won 4 games last year. They've already won 4 this year. Part of that is because of McNabb.

Well part of your problem is you are believing Shanahan's BS stories.
Ok, so maybe he wasnt tired and it had nothing to do with cardio.

So im to believe Shanny put in Rex fucking Grossman in to run the two minute offense over the 80 million dollar man to what? Light a fire under his ass and earn this deal?

He did light it up in the first two rounds of the playoffs, but in the NFC Championship and SB, he combined for 40-74 passing (54.0%), 501 yards (pretty respectable), two TD's and 1 int. Not really game changing numbers in the slightest. The defensive line that made Favre and Brady look like chickens running with their heads cut off won that thing. That had to be one of the best defensive line runs of all time.

I think we can pretty safely assume that Shanahan had nothing to do with this deal.

I'm not saying he won that super bowl single handedly but he wasn't coming up short either was he? He had some help for sure...ehem Favre. But he still made big plays when he need to and yes I know one catch was by a helmet.

I won't take away from that Giants D but you didn't see Eli throwing picks in the end zone.

Where do you stand on this? You never seem to offer an opinion just vague remarks.

I had this thought two weeks ago with the McNabb benching and I really am thinking it now.

Shanahan is not on the same page with the rest of the team. There seems like a stuggle going on between FO and coach. Generally never ends well for the coach.

Not in those games. I guess I couldn't tell you where the Int came from. He did have two red zone ints yesterday, though.

The only game this season that impressed me from Donovan was the GB game. Yeah he threw it all over the lot against the Texans but I could go for 300 against that D. They aren't winning because of him and him only.

My point is this: is McNabb overpaid? Maybe. But quarterbacks get paid big money in this league. If the Redskins wanted to pay McNabb $13 million year but he wanted more, what's it really matter if they give him $78 million instead of $65 million. They traded an early 2nd round draft pick for the guy (so they'd look like complete fools if they didn't re-sign him), he's still a good QB, and they really couldn't afford to let him walk.
