Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair has been killed, a source has confirmed to ESPN.com.
McNair, police said, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville, News Channel 5 in Nashville reported.

Well shit! That's quite the surprise to me. He never seemed to be the type of guy to get himself into any sort of hairy situations like that (provided this was more than just a random shooting). I'm quite interested to know more about this.

The link above has a Nashville Public Information Officer giving some information on the death of Steve McNair. Seems he was found with a woman also dead from the same shooting. They haven't released the identity of the woman.

That's a bit unsettling.

We were just going out to get some stuff for the BBQ and my wife was checking the news on her phone and we found out about this.

There was an ESPN article on NFL players having to be protected because of robbers trying to target them (ie Sean Taylor) and i'm wondering if this is much like it.

Holy crap is right. R.I.P Steve. How many celebrities has this been in the past 2 weeks. I always thought Steve to be one of the good ones as a professional athlete. I will be curious to see how the investigation turns out.
