That's an interesting comparison.
I had to come up with at least one famous person that had recently been indicted by the feds. She was the first that came to mind.

What she did and served 5 months for is nothing compared to this.

I thought that her crime was unnecessarily prosecuted - I'm surprised a deal wasn't cut VERY early, though perhaps her former career on Wall Street had something to do with that.

But you're right - that crime was NOTHING compared to this. I'd guess that Vick can be hit on Tax Evasion and Money Laundering charges as well, if he actually received income from this enterprise.

The feds have something like a 93% conviction rate --
95%, according to Pasquerelli.

And just imagine if that money crossed state lines....

I think her ego probably got in the way of cutting a deal as well. Rich people, in particular, think they can buy their way out of a lot of things. In state court, they maybe can. But not with the feds.

Vick better think long and hard about cutting a deal by pleading guilty to something lesser. The indictment cites about 3-4 informants and if any of his co-defendants decide to testify against him for a lesser charge, he's screwed.

The indictment certainly seems to paint him as the one they are going after.

Well, then. I'd believe Pasquerelli.

Here's the link to the Smoking Gun. It is 18 pages, so I won't post the whole thing here.

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive...7072vick1.html

The indictment gets long and somewhat boring, but it includes saying that dogs were executed by shooting, drowning, hanging, slamming them on the ground and if it could get any worse, wetting them down and electrocuting them.

Those dudes can go to hell. I hope PETA follows Vick around and throws red paint on him everytime he goes outside.
I just read that and it's sickening. I hope Vick goes to jail for a long time and never plays in the NFL again.

Have you guys actually read the indictment? There is some burn-in-hell level shit in there.
The answer for me is no, I didn't read it.

But today I heard all about it on the radio, and it makes me sick to my stomach.

I never condoned the dog fighting to begin with, but I had no idea it was this repulsive.

Clearly, there are a lot of people with a lot of money that think they can just do whatever they want.

It appears they have a lot of evidence against Vick in order to get an indictment, and if all this shit is true, then I hope he gets sent to jail.

But I do realize no matter how heinous the crime, animal cruelty tends to be rather lenient on any sort of sentencing.

As an animal and dog lover, it makes me ill to think about what he and his cronies did.

From what I glanced at real fast, it says he most certainly could face jail time, but I didn't see how long he could be looking at.

I don't think animal cruelty gives long sentences usually, but this is a federal crime, and they could charge him with every carcass found at the very least.

Anyone hear how long he could be looking at if convicted?

It's the gambling and animal fighting and the conspiracy to commit those crimes he's accused of. This is the exact type of shit the feds get off on nailing people for. Crossing state lines made this a huge mess for him.

6 years sounds like max

which i hope he gets.

i could care less who it is, this is despicable.

part of dog training they'll round up stray labs or other dogs and throw em in the pit and have the pit's tear em apart so the pits start to enjoy fighting...

I think I heard six years on the radio. I don't know if that is minimum or maximum though.

So if he did all of this in the same state and never left, he wouldn't be as screwed as he is? Crossing state lines is such a minor thing in the crimes that he really committed.

If six years is the max, there's very little chance he gets that in my opinion. He's a first-time offender, plus, my guess is that he pleas down anyway.
