You have to keep in mind that "journalists" are going to rate owners based largely on the comps and luxuries the owners of said teams provide to them when they are "reporting" at a game. It's one of those pat each other on the back type deals.

i don't give a shit there's no way in hell daniel snyder belongs in the top 5. and in imo neither does jerry jones. jeff lurie not being in the top 5 is an absolute joke and to have those two morons rated ahead of him is an even bigger joke.

Yeah.......Jerrah hasn't done chit for the Cowboy franchise.

Of course......I haven't read how the reankings are scored but I would think $$$$ is a top dog.

these aren't all time rankings, they're current day. why don't we compare the success of the eagles from the time lurie bought the team to the cowboys, or lack thereof, over the same time span.

Once again, many factors are considered -- business savvy, devotion to league growth, aggressive pursuit of winning -- with one overriding consideration: If you're a fan of the team in question, do you want this person (or people) making the big decisions a decided no for snyder as well as jones.

Well, I wouldn't put Lurie anywhere near the top 5, but that entire list stank from top to bottom. Jeff may have improved a bit, but this is the same guy who for the longest time was possibly the WORST owner in the league aside from Brown and the Bidwells. It would be too much typing to go into detail on Bob Kraft. But Jones, Snyder, Wayne H. etc.? These are some of the worst guys in the league to work for.

Meanwhile, owners that players and administration loves to work for (Wilson, Blank, et al) get ranked low for varying reasons of nothingness. And I think this guy is still carrying a grudge that Wayne Weaver had the "audacity" to host the Super Bowl in Jacksonville.

You guys still need the Big One under your belt.

They, this guy is stupid - here is the Vikings thing

23. Zygi Wilf, Vikings

When Wilf was about to take over the Vikes in May 2005, then-owner Red McCombs declared, "It looks like Zygi's going to be the biggie." A little more than two years later, the question is, "Big what?" 1) Minnesota's stadium situation is a mess, with no escape from the Metrodome (save a possible move to L.A.) on the horizon.

I think the fact that he is buy up the land around the dome and has an actual staduim plan is a step the writer missed.

2)The team's starting quarterback is... uh... who is it again? The head coach is, uh, you know, that bald guy.

Yeah, we lost our franchise QB in DC and haven't got the right guy yet - but everyone knows franchise QBs are a dime a dozen and Wilf should have fixed that by now . As for the head coach, if this guy could remember 1 year ago, Childress was on the top of a lot of teams wish list for head coach, but he didn't take us to the promised land last year so all bets are off.

3) Meanwhile Wilf, who vowed to cut the players responsible for the infamous 'Love Boat' incident of '05, still pays big money to the prime organizer.

Smoot is gone, he needs to check his facts.

"I don't think he realized when he bought the team that this ain't real-estate development," one owner says of Wilf. "This is hard work if you want to turn something around."

4) Suddenly, to Vikings fans, McCombs isn't looking so loony.

WRONG - I don't know any vikings fan that doesn't feel we are way better off with Wilf than with McCheapass.

Way too much goes into a Super Bowl to pass the credit on to the owner. Giving the front office the resources to contend on a consistent basis is a much better way to rate an owner.

It's pretty ridiculous to rank the owners anyway. It's amazing that Lurie became a good owner when he found a good coach and GM.

He's from San Antonio......that couldn't have helped him much in the cold north.

Not that there's any rhyme or reason to this stupid list, but how bad do you have to be to be one of 3 owners BELOW Old Man Ford?

I guess he gets a couple points for Ford Field b/c everything else is a disaster.

Aren't you the guy who can show up to any stadium, any time, any city, during any week of the NFL season and just walk in without a ticket, go hang out on the field, wander the sidelines, talk to whomever you want, etc.?

Oh wait...that's me. Which makes me smarter than you on this :P.

OK, now that the obligatory retort to the half-flame is done, let's sum it up nice and easy: Your opionion isn't gonna change since you're an Eagle fan, but your team's owner is a little tyrant. People hate to work for him, players generally don't like playing for him, and some of the things he's done have really painted the league in a negative light over the years. The only thing that's saved his image at all over the years has been bringing in Reid and giving him the space he needs to operate.

would that first sentence be considered a "do you know who i am" type post?

ford seems to be ranked a little higher than i thought he might have been.

What, were you not alive during the mid-90's or something? Or did you put your blinders on for his first 5 or 6 years? Granted, he wasn't as bad as that idiot Braman, but he had some serious growing pains and more than his fair share of whining despite being one of the largest markets, and the way he treated the players back then was downright lousy.

There are plenty of "insiders" that don't know donkey shit about what they're talking about.
