I can't believe there is even an argument here, the NFL is about WINNING CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! period!!! someone bought up Marino--granted great QB,BUT--every time he's talked about what do you hear?"he never won the SB!!" and if Manning never wins one the same will be said about him.

If NE beats the Colts and they go on to win the SB, I say Brady has to be considered possably the best QB ever, right along with Montana!!!

Give me the guy that can make everyone around him better and WIN BIG GAMES over the guy who wins alot of games but also criticizes teammates and stuggles in big games!

And lets not forget--to the "he's still young and has time to win the SB guys"---Brady is also STILL YOUNG and before he is done may have 5 or 6 rings!!!!

As much as you discount Brady's coaching, that's how much credit I give it. We just see his performances differently.
i give Belicheck credit for shutting down mannings gameplan. the simple fact that manning can be shut down by another coaches schemes and defensive players is big to me. So far, Mannings coach and defense can't do shit to brady when the game actually matters and it's win or go home.

now don't take this as i am saying that the coach is more important than he is. i am simply stating that the coach, plus the defensive players can actually stop manning. they can't stop brady. atleast in the playoffs. i understand that Peyton has won the last 2 games and played pretty good. but it's different as everyone knows in the playoffs. win this week, and then i will not be such a hater on him. i love watching manning, i went to the thanksgiving game a few years ago knowing the lions would lose just to watch peyton in person. he is an amazing qb. but once the calendar flips, so does brady's switch and he just makes all the right moves. but like i said, i am rooting for Manning this week.

I agree. Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer are better than Marino.

i didn't take it as negative actually. i think he was doing that terrance and phillip thing where they say fuck you buddy. i actually laughed a little. i respect Obi phal. i debate with him seemingly every day. he's like my ex. we agree on NOTHING.
It wasn't really a personal attack. Not one any more than the comment I was responding to. Just banter.

It looked bad. So, I took it down.

I respect pwr, too. He's as sure he's right as I am he's wrong.

You don't think it hurts the argument that championships are the end all statistic? I'd sure say it does.

I would give you "most successful QB ever." You'll never get me to call him the best.

I agree with this statement, and it takes quite a bit for me to agree with OP.

it's not that. they are the equivalent of one hit wonders. hypothetically speaking, a shit group writes a song the world falls in love with. they win every conceivable award for that one song and they fade away afterwards. Hypothetically, Pink Floyd does what they do, but never win those awards but last for decades. you gonna tell me that the one hit wonder was more successful? no way. those guys you talked about were average one hit wonders.

not really when you consider that we are comparing brady and manning. both put up great numbers in the regular season on a consistent basis, but brady continues that production throughout the playoffs while manning doesn't. dilfer and johnson have never put up great numbers during the regular season on a consistent basis nor have they have ever consistently lead their teams to the playoffs.

I'm not saying that Johnson and Dilfer were better the Marino, I just stated that whenever Marino is talked about that is always brought up. And it will be with Manning also if he never wins the SB.

and it's not the end all statistic. it a big part, but not the end all. Brady + his great stats + his rings > Mannings awesome stats.

besides, not even you think that Marino is less of a qb than the other 2 you mentioned. you are just using cliche reasoning just to put it out there. believe in something if you are gonna join. otherwise, don't join.

I did get drunk last night. But, I don't remember falling down the stairs.

Something like this, it is completely debatable. I understand that. Neither player's career is even close to over. We can't close the debate until then. In the meantime, this is what I do. It's what I most enjoy about being a sports-entertainment fan.

let's put it like this, do you ever think brady will be on the cbs pregame show after he has retired getting poked fun at every week by jake plummer? now, can you see that happening to peyton manning?

no. once again stop it. i said hypothetical. just to help spell it out. I don't know if Pink Floyd ever won any awards, but i do know that Roger Waters throws one crazy ass concert that is definately worthy of skipping class the day after so that you can properly recover.

If Manning wins one and breaks Marino's records, can he be considered one of the greatest QB's ever? Or does he have to win 2 or 3? Favre is considered great and he has only won one, and he could have a couple of Marino's records if he returns.
