Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher is expected to announce his retirement on Monday, according to several reports out of Pittsburgh.
While no press conference has been scheduled by the Steelers, sources say Cowher has informed several people of his intentions to leave the NFL club. Cowher met with team chairman Dan Rooney and president Art Rooney II on Tuesday before driving to his home in Raleigh, North Carolina. While he has one year left on his current contract, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports he has told friends and associates that he wants to spend more time with his family. Cowher has been the Steelers' head coach since January of 1992, when he succeeded Chuck Noll. From TSN Be interesting who takes over and how that affects the team. |

He was, without a doubt, one of my favorite coaches. This leaves Dungy and that's about it now as far as coaches that I think are really cool guys.
I vote Norm Chow to replace him. Norm is due. He is the next football genious, and one of the few asisatnts that I know and like. Although, he'd be a much better fit in AZ. I think he could succeed anywhere. |

I think Cowher will take at leats 2 years off. I think he'll enjoy his time off. The Steelers will get their choice for his replacement though as it is by far the msot attractive job. But the miami job is very attractive as well. Great owner and great location. |
