To which I replied the voters are obligated to vote the winner of the BCS championship game the national champion. That's a direct quote from your article. The AP isn't involved in the BCS. They backed out. Yes, the BCS is going to say that the BCS champion is the champion. This is your source??? I could link Tom Lemming and he'd say that Notre Dame's working on the 16-peat this year. Who's in charge of college athletics? The NCAA Who do they say won the 2003 title? LSU and USC That is all. And George likes vanilla ice cream. |

Sports Illustrated must be wrong too as they seem to have bothered to issue two covers for that year, one for each of the national titleists.
http://subs.timeinc.net/SI/coverstor...&page_number=9 LSU's the 1 - "Tigers claim BCS Title in Sugar Bowl" USC's the 1 - "Trojans claim AP Title in Rose Bowl" If there's only one credited national champion, apparently the NCAA and Sports Illustrated have yet to be informed. |

From what I've gathered, the NCAA wanted the BCS to be what I thought it is--a game that determines an undisputed champion. However, with a lack of public support and the AP pulling out, they can't really do that. They, on an annual basis, just hope they don't get embarrased too much (like in 2003).

It might just be me, but could this possibly have been an advertisement to get the market of both LSU fans AND USC fans? Of course SI is going to use this to their advantage to sell more magazine subscriptions. Or you could just admit that you have nothing to support your point like Pit did when he posted his link that supported what I was saying. Either way. |

The NCAA must be in on this "advertisement", too. |

Just feel the need to voice my opinion. Nobody says that the BCS crowns"THE NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPION". They simply crown the BCS Bowl Series Champion. Back in the year in dispute the BCS and the AP were both still very relevant. One team was named BCS champion, the other AP champion. Niether one is the NCAA Champion. Who won the NCAA championship in '97? Nobody, one team won the ESPN Championship, another the AP championship.
I really don't get all the people getting their panties in a twist over this anyway. Why can't people just enjoy the tradition and the game of college football. I really want to see the BCS just go away in lieu of the old Bowl System. I'm sick of hearing about National Champioships at all. If my team has an undefeated season, that should be enough to make me happy, I don't need validation from anybody. |

Why the ASU mascot by the way? It pissed me off watching the game last night. I almost moved there in May, I lived there for about 5 weeks, but got a job offer in Michigan I thought I couldn't turn down. The whole game last night I was annoying people with the "I've been there" and "there's where my apartment was" talk. I also apparently enjoy rooting for crappy teams. Undergrad Michigan State, MBA Arizona State, and I'm looking at Rutgers or Syracuse for my PhD. On the pro side I grew up a Lions and Tigers fan and don't like Hockey or basketball. |

I get my MBA from Arizona State May 16, 2006 (online program). Plus despite being named Sparky, he's one of the better mascots out there. |
