Excellent Sully! Thanks pal!

Now, where the hell are Hoopster, and BeardownTexas???

If they are not a member of this forum, I will have to spend a little time on "the nameless board" after we pound the piss out of their beloved Bears.

beardown;

These Lions fans are just so stupid...they are actually funny. When was the last time a team made a significant improvement (in win/loss record wise) just because they drafted "two college playmakers."

Man...the look on their faces will be priceless when Jones/Williams FAILED to live up to expectations in the rookie seasons.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure what is funnier about this post (that i stole from the ESPN board). If its that this guy thinks two rookies CANT make a differance, or if its funnier that he thinks that is all the Lions did to improve this offseason was add 2 playmakers in the draft.
For starters, we did get the best lineman available in FA. One that was also coveted by the Bears.

second, we went out and got the best "cover corner" in FA to go with one of the best "playmaking" corners in the league last year.

third, we shored up an already impressive defensive backfield by signing a probowl safety.

This of course doesnt even take into account the other little additions that will make this team a WHOLE lot better, and deeper.

So, I suppose that if i had to answer the question of " When was the last time a team made a significant improvement (in win/loss record wise) just because they drafted "two college playmakers." I would answer probably never. however, that wouldnt describe the Lions because they did do a hell of alot more to improve than just add 2 playmakers through the draft.

DOHHHHHHH

This was a good thought Sully, and eventually will make this board that much better....

However, since there appears to be a total of 4 Bear fans in this forum, it prolly wont work quite yet.

Of course, you did manage to get 4 out of the 6 total Bear fans over here...so thats not too bad I guess.

While not professing to be a Bear fan, I do keep up with them. As I stated in a post in the Bear forum a couple of days ago, the key to the Bears winning is playing old time Bear football until Grossman gets up to speed.

Running Thomas Jones will, of course, be critical. If they can't, the Bear receivers are just a bunch of names. Terrell really doesn't scare anybody, yet.

If they Lions can put up an early . . . 10 or 13 points, IMO the Bear doesn't have the firepower to rebound from double digit deficits.

Really like the Lions getting 3 here.

For all you gamblers, taking the line on this game is a no-brainer. Lions win outright, much less getting three.

As for the two rookie playmakers, well there's always the Cowboys from the late 80s, when they went from 1-15 to Super Bowl in a handful of years because of a succession of quality drafts. Irvin in 88, Aikman in 89, Smith in 90, etc.

Of course, that doesn't count because it's Dallas, right?

Jeez. What a maroon.

Of course Vikings fans will argue that THEY got the best "cover corner" in FA to go with one of the best "playmaking" corners in the league last year.
Honestly, I cant see how it could be argued that winfield was the best cover corner available last year. The guy couldnt even hold down a starting corner spot last year with his own team(unless you count the nickle back as a starter).

Don't get me wrong, i think the Vikes did more than enough on defense to give them a legit shot at the division, I just don't think Winfield is as good as people make him out to be. Dont believe me? Just ask some Buffalo fans.

An interesting opening series for the Bears.

Looked like Lovie thought he still had Holt and Bruce to throw to. Like seeing them throw the ball, however if they want to win this game, I think establishing a running game is, or should be, the first priority.

Can not remember the last time a qb for the Bear hit a receiver in stride like Grossman did on the 27 yard gain to Terrell.

Bears TD. Jones a 2 yard run.

I can talk to myself with the best of them.

Lions suffering two injuries and not even out of first quarter (Rogers & Bly).

These are the type of things that happen during a game that make Lions getting 3 all of a sudden not look so good . . .

Yes and no.

Looks very good sometimes. Some other times he just seems to disappear. Still wouldn't mind having him on the Pack, though.

That was one heck of a throw by Harrington to Roy Williams.

Might like to try that play again.
