Here's some info... I've drawn on and off for a number of years... Over the summer I just decided to double major in my current major (Computer Science) and Art.
The last time I've done any artwork was ~4 years prior to taking this Drawing I class when I went to an art school and decided it wasn't for me. At any rate, here are some of the things I produced this quarter, some were in class and some were out of class assignments. I apologize in advance for the picture quality in a lot of these, they were all taken on my cell phone. I don't have easy access to a scanner right now. In class cow skull study with white conte on black charcoal paper: http://images17.fotki.com/v319/photo...darker2-vi.jpg Out of class assignment for extreme light, primarily vine charcoal used: http://images49.fotki.com/v1510/phot...helmet1-vi.jpg In class caster plast/mold study in charcoal: http://images19.fotki.com/v18/photos...oaleye2-vi.jpg In class caster plast/mold study in white conte: http://images51.fotki.com/v749/photo...nteeye2-vi.jpg The follow are a series of 6 done for an out of class assignment where we're take take elements of content (subject matter, style, composition, etc) from a well known artist. I chose Chet Zar for mine. These were to be done on small scale, no more than 9 square inches; all mine were 3x3. http://images112.fotki.com/v189/phot...series1-vi.jpg http://images18.fotki.com/v673/photo...series3-vi.jpg http://images18.fotki.com/v673/photo...series2-vi.jpg http://images17.fotki.com/v372/photo...series4-vi.jpg http://images54.fotki.com/v242/photo...series5-vi.jpg http://images54.fotki.com/v564/photo...series6-vi.jpg In class skull studies, done on charcoal paper first covered with powdered charcoal, then erased and added to with more charcoal for darker areas: http://images19.fotki.com/v276/photo.../skull1-vi.jpg http://images52.fotki.com/v638/photo...llcolor-vi.jpg My final out of class assignment, the basic theme was to be portraying motion: http://images38.fotki.com/v266/photo...triumph-vi.jpg I know there's a lot of things that could be improved on a lot of them. I'm hoping I can keep up the discipline to keep drawing on my own time over winter break, and beyond. I really enjoyed the professor we had, he's very humble even though he's very successful and is very helpful/encouraging. Regrettably I can't take Drawing II next quarter because of a schedule conflict with a required computer science class, but I'm doing an independent study with him in the spring (even though I already have 2 studio classes scheduled that quarter, heh). |
