My elderly next door neighbor gave me Stephen Kings "Salems Lot" when I was 11. I read it twice and then had my Dad buy me all of his books.

An old boyfriends mom gave me the book Wifey by Judy Blume. I might have been around 15 at the time. It was an adult novel about an upper middle class housewife with a very dirty mind. Kind of an intersting read at that young age. Actually, I still have the book & intend to read it again some time, it was a good book

An elderly lady at my dad's work (he's maintenance in an assisted living complex) gave me an Agatha Christie book, titled "The Mirror Crack'D". I've yet to read it, but I am going to try and start it next week.

Default Remember this? - What were the books you got given by older people?
It was a book by Paula Trachtman called Disturb Not the Dream. It was full of all the forbidden stuff i.e. sex, blood and gore and some horror and a really good twist. My neighbour who was nineteen or twenty loaned it to me when I was fourteen. I remember her husband giving her a reproaching look and her saying, 'it's only got about two pages of sex in it.' Make that two pages without. I had to hide it from my mum but boy was it ever a good read.
