Default Help needed with Canon 350D/Rebel XT
I can't find my manual and I currently don't have the time to locate it. I'm trying to use a IR remote with the camera but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Does anyone know if there something I need to turn on, on the camera or is the remote buggered?
Thanks

Not sure if it is the same on the 350D, but on my 300D you have to set the shutter release to the timed 10sec setting. I think...

i have the 300d, but it might be the same, you sure you have the Remote button set on the camera, the button in front of the shutter button, its also the Timer button, this enables the remote on the 300d, if that doesnt work then i dont know, only got my 300d on monday.
Let us know how you get on

P.S. Im after a anythin to 300mm zoom lens, anyone selling one off cheap in the UK or where i can get one for less than £70

First of all you have to set your camera to the remote mode (the same mode you use for timed shots). The IR remote should then work - BUT if its anything like the 300D it will only work from INFRONT of the camera, as thats where the IR sensor is.

If you are standing to the side or rear of the camera, the remote will not work.

Thanks guys I got it working now. You are right though you have to be pretty much straight on to get it to work, that might mean I need to think about the location a bit more.
