I mostly just wanted to get some feedback on this. Was working on creating a logo for the Wolf:ET clan I'm part of, so you can see that it somewhat resembles the ET logo itself. The clan's name is Feared By Few.
Obviously the logos we would use on the webpage itself would be simpler because of the smaller size used, but I made a nice big fancy one too just so I could play around with some of the nifty effects of Photoshop. Any input & feedback would be appreciated. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-.../FbF-Logo3.jpg |

A few things:
1) The clan name is very strange, is that deliberate? 2) The shading on the outer circle is wrong, if you look at the bottom left of it, it seems to be a rounded bevel (which looks good) then if you look at the right, the shading has completely changed and it looks like a flat metallic surface. 3) I don't think the texture on the red bits looks very good, looks like it's made of carpet or something, it doesnt work very well IMO 4) drop shadow overload. 5) i don't think that metallic pattern/texture looks very good, the red bit at the bottom with the text on in particular. Postives: I think the actual logo design is really good, it's just way too over processed. All you need to do is flat shapes and nice colours and it'll look good, you don't need loads of filters and effects. |

Yeah the name of the clan is pretty much an inside joke. It's made up of mostly friends who just play for fun, so we get our butts kicked a lot lol.
It's good to know the basic logo design is OK. The basic design was pretty much already made up by someone else, so I only made a couple minor changes myself. Like I said though too, I was just throwing in a bunch of fancy filters & stuff to experiment. It's been a while since I've used Photoshop for anything serious. For the lighting on the outer ring, I agree doesn't look quite right. I was trying to go for the rounded look, but I didn't realise half of it didn't look right until you pointed it out. The diamond plate pattern I got off the internet. I was really trying to find something like a brushed metal pattern / texture, but didn't really find anything. |
