Default Insider's info from MDA
Yesterday meeting with MDA, instructions was passed down to Mediacorps not to produce anymore drama and variety programmes that got anything to do with FT and FT integration. The latest development is a reversal from MDA's 2 pages instructions sent to Mediacorps last month about what public service message they want the channel to emphasize including issues dealing with FT integration.

Perhaps the government sense their propaganda is counter-productive and only serves to exacerbate the angers from the ground.

The pap has to go back to the drawing board and tackle the basics, assumptions and basis of the huge influx of cheap foreign workers.

It's better for the PAP to recognise the severe repercussions of this ill conceived, badly implemented policy and to bite the bullet now than to allow this policy to drag and divide SG society further.

Will this bad policy reversal save the pap? Only the bext GE can tell

Yes, this bad policy was allowed to linger, prolong and cause much damage, anguish and hurt. But LHL is the PM now and the buck stops at him now. It's within his power to stop a bad and divisive policy. He has been PM for eight years and has not seen the flaws of this policy. He is a chief culprit !

Agreed! 8 years in the job, taking GCT's policies wholesale. This shows a lack of leadership and vision.

Yes..I sense that LHL is a nice man...but poor leader.

He lacks depth to see the deep and long term implications of a policy. Look at many of his policies..they are made for immediate gains but potential long term problems were missed. A good leader sees long term benefits rather than short term gains.

Bad policies are..casinos, liberal influx of cheap foreign labour rather than attracting true talents who help SG to level up

Answer is simple, just restrict employment passes & PRs la. When PR got retrenched, don't renew pass. The situation will correct itself somewhat.

I suspect because SPH readership and profit have plunged, so MDA didn't want mediacopr to suffer the same fate as more viewers are now heading towards new media for entertainment than PAP boring programmes.

If the PAP's got any intelligence or street smarts, it should know by now that this FT issue involving PRCs etc. will almost likely be the cause of its downfall in GE 2016, if it does not stop with its pro-PRC FT policies.

Frankly, I would prefer that PAP remain clueless about the deep anger on the ground, and to continue mass importing PRCs into Singapore and thus generate more anger on the ground -- because this would lead to the downfall of PAP in GE 2016.

What talking you???

Situation reversing itself?

Are you kidding me?

Have you walked around Singapore recently?

PRC free-lance prostitutes are walking around in broad day light everywhere, including HDB estates and heartlands.

There are likely in excess of 1 million PRCs in Singapore now -- just PRCs alone -- not counting Filipinos, Viets, etc.

How exactly do you think the situation will correct itself?

You think the 1 million people will just leave? Fat hope.

Its does mean a reversal of the FT policy but a reversal not to publicise it. They will continue their engagement below line and directly with FTs in the past. You guys remember Aussie Pete in this forum who was invited as an FT to meet the political leaders and innocently thought that locals gets such invitations as well.

Remember also we had no clue when the pop moved from 2.3 to 4 over a mumber of years without the official stats showing it.

Precisely.

PAP has messed up big time by focusing on policies that produce short term benefits for itself, its friends and the elites -- at the long term cost and expense of the Singaporeans.

It is like a person who swallows massive amount of steroids to gain muscles in the short run, but at the cost of damaging his liver and body in the long run.

Won't be surprised if its true. Their viewership stinks and people are not impressed anymore when cable is readily available. They must have realized that simply talking about FT and integration gets people THINKING about the issue, and once people start thinking about it they realize that the govt is treating them very unfairly.

A huge, failed attempt at propaganda.

Once people connect all the dots, FT will become the major topic of the next GE, alongside cost of living.

the sliding viewership is giving mediacorps top brass many sleepless nights. Very hard to produce good dramas when media outlets is view more as a government messenger than a form of entertainment.. Don't know if it gov micro manage or self-censorship on the part of MCS, just heard a top brass producer saying something like if the drama features FT, there mustn't be any quarrel or fight between the FT and local. If there is such a scene, it must either be local vs local or FT vs FT. Even minor detail like scripts and the scenes are control. How to be creative under such a restrictive environment?

I have never touch my TV remote for years.

Even the local produced dramas, they need to use it to brainwash people. They don't even spare children programs also. Very disgusting.

There's lots to see on the internet, from Korean dramas, Taiwanese dramas to China programs.

In fact, I watch some Korean programs like Dream Team 2, Running man and Invincible Youth without subtitles even when I don't understand what they are saying.

Their actions is easy to understand though programs like Strong Heart is impossible without Korean knowledge.

For the foreigners, they would subscribe to cable, so all those rubbish about integration with the locals did not even reach them.

They are still stuck in their own world.

Serve them right if they are losing local viewership.

Anyway, they won't close shop as they are still deemed as useful to the MIW.

Only thing, MIW will have to dig deeper in their pockets to put them on life-support with all those feeding tubes to sustain them.

Clarification. What I heard originally was found to be untrue.

The instruction by MDA was there mustn't contain any scene that put local and FT on collision course on any TV drama. e.g a FT character quarrel with sinkie.. The station can still continue with their social re-engineering propaganda regarding foreigners but just be mindful of the above..

So enjoy the propaganda...

Clearly, a case of if you cannot convince the people to go along with you, obfuscate and switch to stealth mode, muzzle the MSM while cleaning the backsides, and then blitz them with a fait accompli and hoping that by Ge2016 the ends will justify the means.

Must be after severe advice from Old Man, as it is clearly a Machiavellian tactic. he has done it successfully for years.
