Megalomania has a lot to do with it.

The present Prime Minister of Australia is the richest man ever to hold the position, although all of the money is in his wife's name.
Hmmmm. Actually, I think all the money in her name is actually HERS. She's the businesswoman. The company was hers and she sold the Australian branch of it to avoid conflict of interest when Rudd became PM.

He was a diplomat before he became a politician.

Their divergent interests and careers are a matter of public record and well scrutinised, there is no evidence suggesting she started her business because he wanted a sneaky way to make money without being accountable for it at the Parliamentary level.

If there was any skullduggery involved the Conservatives in Australia would have found it and used it against Rudd and Labour by now.

Mikel.

When in power, both Berlusconi and Thaksin have used their position to the advantage of their own business interests and those of their families and friends.

Something is fishy with Halliburton as well, but on the other hand who doesn't use his position to advantage of their family or friends? I always cut people I know a deal and they been doing the same with me
