Ghosts only exist if you believe in them; Ubonwan will tell you that there was a ghost in the hotel we stayed in South Pattaya but ask me and there was just problem with the plumbing causing it to "clank clank clank" everytime someone used water. |

I am not one to believe in ghosts but....
One night I was cycling back home and had to pass below a flyover. At a distance I noticed a figure standing motionless ahead in the dark narrow path. Her face was pale, had a slight bluish tinge and was void of any expression. I was cycling very quickly towards her and any sane person would move out of my path. But she just stood there with her head hung down. My mind started to run wild and my heart beat real fast. A human would move out of the way but yet this pale figure was not bulging. I was in a dilemma and could not believe I was seeing a ghost! Not matter how firm my beliefs were in the non-existence of ghosts and spirits, they went out of the window that very moment. Hoping fervently that the ghost would not look up and notice me, I slowed down as I cycled nearer towards the lone figure, my entire body trembling. As I came to about 2 metres in front of the ghost, I realised that she was holding a handphone in her hands and was busy text-messaging someone. That explains why she did not look up to see me and I then realised the source of the slight bluish tinge on her face which I had seen earlier. Phew!! Whenever there is a conflict between our feelings, emotions and our rational thoughts, usually it is the former that will win. After all, we are emotional creatures driven by the whims and fancies of our hearts, isn't it? ![]() |

It's not proper to say that I dont beleive in ghost but this story is so good to miss.It sounds like a Korean horror movie.May be we cant see ghost/spirit because our mind refuse to accept the existance but this is something that is quite hard to explain.That's all I know but I dont think a phone call can kill peoples...there's too many "if" factor!

HI
now we know how urban legends are born and then grow. but every country and every culture has their own legends, superstitions and ghost or spirits. lucky and unlucky numbers. We may make fun of other countrys supersitions and joke about them. and say how can they believe that.but to many they are real. but they do the same to use. My thai wife asked me why do so many buildings and hotels in america don't have a 13th floor. I explained to her the superstition, her words were "thats dumb" |

my Thai colleague told me about this. she said a red number will show up on my mobile screen. I pointed out my mobile is 7 years old and only does black. she insisted it will be red and then no matter what I do, I will die. I told her I will be careful driving home
![]() it is interesting for me to see the deeply rooted belief in ghosts. |

I bet most of us no matter how rational we think we are, have had experiences that gave us a creepy or ominous feeling. Usually we dismiss it as being irrational because we can't explain it. According to C.G.Jung, a famous Swiss psychiatrist with many followers, there is an unconscious part in us that includes what he called archetypes shared by all of us across all races. These can influence our everday lives and also can explain certain unexplainable fears people have. Fears of ghosts might be explained this way and uirban legends like the cell phone scare might have its source there. I never really understood all of Jung's teachings but nevertheless find them fascinating.

@Marie
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persona_2 The silent protagonist of the game is Tatsuya Suou.[2] His path intertwines with those of two other students, Eikichi and Lisa, during an encounter with the Joker, a jester-like antagonist who is rumored to grant the wishes of people who dial their own cell phone number. Anyone who fails to tell Joker their wishes, either because they lack one or refuse to tell, has their "ideal energy" stolen, reducing them to ambition-less shells called Shadow Selves. Not quite the same, but it did remind me of this game. |

I've never seen her move so fast as when she came flying out of the bathroom when the toilet began filling up with water as she was using it... ![]() ![]() David |

Sounds like it is straight out of Thai horror movie, and it probably is - there was a movie about a ghost number like this out a few years back.
The hoaxer must have a bit of cash to start a joke like this, as as mentioned earlier, 'nice' numbers cost a small fortune. A number like 081-000999 would be a million baht up. |
