i do have a friend who is teochew who now studying in france. her dad speak with me in teochew rather than thai when i met him. i think there is quite a number of teochew family settle down in thailand.

I know some words like Jia(eat) Kia(walk) Jung ek(have a bath) xxxxx something like that. Only the 2nd generation is still be able to speak Teochew. While the 3rd generation like myself know a little or not at all. because almost all Thai of Chinese descent adopt Thai as their first language.

Don't be surprise if you don't find any young Thai Chinese who can speak Teochew. But if you like to know about the story of Overseas Chinese, you can go to Yaowarat Road. The older generation there almost always converse in Teochew within themselves.
