The Jekyll and Hyde nature often camouflaged by the smile; the way outward politeness covers sometimes some impolite activity.

Friendly most of the time but never a consistency. ( because of mae bhen rai and their feelings of no permanence ? )

I notice that some eateries use soft spoons and forks that can easily bend. My friends and I like to say they must be made of 24 carat gold, that's why they're too soft.

The most unique thing about Thai Culture: the close bond between the monarchy and Thai people.

The way people can rest by squatting for ages. If I try this, after one minute the blood flow stops reaching my toes.

Which makes me think of something else......

The lack of furniture in peoples homes i.e. tables, chairs.

Even in the homes that do have chairs and sofas, the occupants still prefer to sit on the floor.

Toilet paper at food outlets and soft drinks sold in bags, I first experienced both of those in Vietnam.

For me the most unique think about Thai Culture is that it is Thai, how many other countries can claim their culture is Thai?

it's not the most unique thing, and not only true of Thailand, but what first came to my mind was how people live in the streets: cook, eat, rest, play, wash, etc. I love watching the people (I'm not much of a talker). I live by myself so for me it is important that I don't feel isolated, there are always things going on outside my window or wherever I go in the city or in the country.

oh yeah, street food. We used to have that in Singapore many decades ago. But to make sure food are safe and vendors regulated, they are all now licensed and cramped together in food centres, some here call them hawker centres, where they had to pay rent for a small stall among rows of other stalls.

To me, I'd rather get diarrhea once in a while, to get back that "lost culture" we used to have here in Singapore. I love street food!

Meal time.

Sharing food with your friends, 3 generations of their family, all the neighbours and anyone else that happens to be passing at the time.

Brilliant.

That during the interview with the police, the police officer can tell the interviewer how he was inspired to help the people thats why he joined the force and what kind of "misconcepts" the public has on them... and the interview was actually published.

Well as sort of touched on above it's definitely not unique to Thailand, but since Thailand is really my only real exposure to that region of the globe, I'd say that the sheer numbers of food stalls on the streets I found to be cool and unique. Not only can you eat in restaurants, malls, and fast food joints, but you can have a quick and cheap bite to eat at all hours of the day and night from the food carts.

I think Thai people are very independent people... that is why they can smile so easily at anyone, anytime!

That during the "debates" this corrupted politician can point at another corrupted polictician and "accuse" him of corruption. And as if he has a bigger gun, he has the right to even raise his fist at the other person or even steal a sucker punch at him.

In my own opinion, the most unique thing that Thai people has is that they haven't been colonized ever since. Although there was the invaders but they could still repel it.

It can also add that people loves to it. In Asia Thai food is the best food second to my cousine lol.

Really they love to eat, and uses a lot of spices on their food.

Default What is, for you, the most unique thing about Thai Culture?
No offensive replies please.

For me, I think Thailand is one of the few, if not the only, to offer toilet paper at food outlets. I use toilet paper to wipe my mouth at home sometimes, but i think this is one of the most unique culture shock for many first timers. I didnt even think about it, until I brought a friend to eat at a Thai food outlet...

lol

The big elephants walking around a busy Bangkok street! It still amazes me when I see them, just like the first time I saw one. I know those poor things aren't supposed to be there, but still, it is pretty unique sight.
