There is a story in the Thairath newspaper today that a 28yrs old man shot his friend dead with a gun his mother bought for him after she won 4 million baht from the lottery last month. Then he committed suicide to avoid the consequence. I guess the mother wishes now that she hadn't won the lottery.
What would you buy for your son/daughter if you win the lottery? For sure not a gun! |

To me what i feel it's all 因缘 fate or karma (is it correct?)..if got misfortune fall upon someone, no matter how the person hide also still can't run away.
Erm can i ask u one question peiyan?..did your prayer come true? Since you mention it seems like Thailand is especially potent in granting wishes of prosperity for these tourists, and of course this lady selling catfish... |

I am simply talking in general... Cos I have many friends and friends' family members who have talked about going to Thailand, typically BKK, to pray for good luck in business and work What I mean is, there are so many other countries nearby with temples, but of all places, Thailand still appears to be on top of the list for this purpose...

is it safe for Thai lottery winners to appear in public? as far as I know, most winners in the west refuse to be mentioned by name let alone be interviewed and appear in public, often they hide the money in a bank account and continue working for a while and don't tell anyone until arrangements are made to "disappear" seamlessly into a better life. I think I would claim the money immediately-but be very quiet about the whole thing-I have told nobody locally about my magnificent £100 /TBT 5000 win last month even! |

Catfish seller dreams of 12, wins 42 million in lottery
Patcharapol Panrak Pattaya Mail Grilling catfish for a living may be a thing of the past for a lucky Sattahip resident who dreamed the number 12 and two days later won 42 million baht in the country’s lottery. Bualai Bamrung fainted at her Sriprapat Market catfish stand when the results were announced Sept. 16. Once she regained consciousness, the 42-year-old woman rushed to the police station with her three winning tickets to register her win. Bualai Bamrung dreamt of the number 12, and a few days later won 42 million baht in the lottery. Luck and superstition run hand-in-hand, but in Bualai’s case, it seems to have worked. She said that just two nights before she had dreamed of a beautiful, long-haired woman wearing the number 12. The next day she was approached by a lottery-ticket seller who offered her three sets of tickets all ending in the number 12. There was no way she was going to pass up that kind of coincidence. Bualai’s stand is closed now, but she told reporters she doesn’t plan to change anything in her life and will continue to serve up fresh fish. She was, however, a touch scared of having come into such a fortune and rushed off have police verify her tickets and escort her to the bank. Later she and her family, who’d only just moved into a new home in Plutaluang, went to Bangkok to claim her prize and celebrate. Neighbors said they’ve not been able to contact her for a few days, but police said she had turned off her phone amid a deluge of phone calls from charities, foundations and long-lost family members who’ve learned of her windfall. |

Some do not even claim the prize for weeks (it has to be claimed within 6 months and they are paid interest on the amount from the momentit is won) while, presumably they adjust to the situation/make plans to quietly "disappear" |

It seems to me that many people from Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong like to go to specifically Thailand to pray for good luck and prosperity in their business or job I wonder if Farangs do the same in Thailand? Judging from the huge number of these good luck/fortune seekers cum tourists, it seems like Thailand is especially potent in granting wishes of prosperity for these tourists, and of course this lady selling catfish...

=) Hey,there's no need for apologies... The main issue is not about being quoted out of context or not... Just sharing that it feels so strange that all the recent posts are quoted or cut and pasted into a same person's subsequent remarks so closely, even if the person's a friend.... Kinda like being stalked hahahhaha (just joking)
