Plez believed me >>>>I was an international student at JCU and QUT.
I lived with Aussie homestay and also the other thai students. From our observation,
Aussie people likely pround and presented Velgamite.
I asked my friends and found out more than 95% of thai do not like taste of it.
There are only 2 foods I will not eat because of taste and that is one of them. I'm not the only Australian to detest the taste of Vegemite.

They have a new Big C here in town and I went in the other day and guess what, They had a few cans of sliced beets, I bought 12 cans, brought them home and as soon as I walked in the door I open 2 and added some salt, cider vinegar and some sugar and a tad of cinnamon and a sliced onion, didnt last 2 days either so have to do some more.

Maybe I'd like beets if they were served with sugar and cinnamon. Hmmm...

Vegemite (aka Marmite) is delicious, sometimes I can even make it last long enough to put on a sandwich! The only food I can bring to mind that I don't like is sheeps.

Where I come from people tend to refer to sheep as sheeps. 1 sheep, 2 sheeps...

I could live on 'prok fired rice', as my local takeaway lists it.

The nearest I get to a take away is fish and chips-everything is either too expensive or does not deliver .
Similarly a decent Sunday lunch out is too expensive for what you get-which is why I have not had a lamb, pork or beef one in years-in the UK anyway-and there is no point in cooking a full Sunday lunch for one!

Vegemite made by Kraft is definitely not also known as Marmite in OZ .. that is a substitution ... believe it. Try some vegemite with cheese sandwiches, and if your kids don't like pumpkin, add some to mashed potatoes and pumpkin mixed together. Grew up on vegemite, I like it.

What a coincidence, Beetroot is the other food I can't eat due to taste, both beetroot and Vegemite are revolting, I have not eaten them since I was forced to when I was a child.

In Britain we have Marmite which is almost identical to your Vegemite. But to confuse the issue in Australia you have a different version called Marmite that originates in New Zealand.

I have tried the Marmite made by Sanitarium, yuk. Haven't tried the English one, although apparently it is available here under a different name, "Our Mate", I think. Have to give it a taste test when I find it.

To the OP sorry about the off topic mate.
