Our son is engaged to a wonderful Thai girl. Her parents visited us this summer from Thailand and we have all become good friends. I would like to send her mother in Bangkok a gift and I need guidance. Are there certain items that are especially welcome as gifts by Thai moms? Are there shops or florists in Bangkok that can send special gifts? Can anyone suggest a gift that would be especially well received by the mother of a Thai woman engaged to an American man? We don't want to gift inappropriately but wish her mother to know we are fond of her and her family. Thank you for any help.

Yes I agree with Richard. As I'm Thai . So! I'm acctually more appreciated with souvenir from abroad by my foreigner friends. And I think it's very nice idea to also send her the flowers... As many ladies might usually appreciated with receiving the flowers.

Flowers in Thailand don't really have the same meaning as gifts. It is really a Western thing. I am sure they wouldn't mind receiving flowers from you - but they might not fully understand. I would send something that is a souvenir of America. To remind them of you and their visit to your country.
