Hi all,
I'm a 25 year old Belgian girl that is quitting her job and PhD to go and volunteer in the Camillian Social Centre in Rayong for 2 years. I'm leaving the end of August and I am getting rather nervous. The project is on HIV/AIDS, a very social approach, so I will love the work. But, If anyone lives nearby and can give me some tips, it would be nice. I was thinking about buying a bike or a motorbike, any idea of the prices? Anyone lives nearby? Kind regards |

I don't live there but I like Rayong. If I had enough money I would buy a holiday home there. There are some nice beaches there and several good islands such as Koh Samet and Koh Chang a bit further down. I guess a cheap motorcycle would be 25,000 to 45,000. You can buy cheaper secondhand ones and of course more expensive versions. Let us know if you have any specific questions.

I live close near Sattahip, I have friends (Thai and Expat) that work in Rayong.
Motorbike; New honda around 45-50000 baht depending on size, there is a Taiwanese (150 cc) one selling for 19000 baht. Are they supplying accomodation? that will be the biggest headache to start with. Anyway keep in touch I'm sure you'll love it here. There is a German girl who started work at the Pattaya Memeorial Hospital 2 months ago, you might like to look her up for a few tips as well. One of my neighbours is Belgian as well. |
