Thank you, Anutta, for the link. I was looking for Moo Ban dek direct link but it was moved to the ffc link, so I was thinking if something has happened to the admin of Moo Ban Dek.
During the one-night-visiting, my friend and I didn't have enough time to talk with the children; we were just smiling and they were just staring at us. Has the concept of letting Thai children running their own affairs been working well? We saw them growing their own farm-produce goods but couldn't really detect the pride of being an owner or co-owner ( we didn't really spend time with children directly-sort of walking with the 'teachers'). Have some children gone to universities? Has the concept been accepted by other Thais? when we were in Thailand at that time, we had an impression that only NGO know about the 'project'. The way Thais think of their children are quite different from many Westerners, aren't they? Some Thai villagers told me that children were their future helpers, important labor. I also visited a local gem factory that 'employed' a dozen of children aged under 16 because their small fingers were suitable for the tasks. |
