Well, these guys aren't police, but security for the Fairyland Shopping Mall in Nakon Sawan. You can't tell from the picture, but they were completely ignoring the traffic, and instead blowing their whistles and dancing in the street. Presumably if the traffic got heavier, they might have paid attention to their jobs. Then again....

well then if that be the case, the liquid diesel in the smoke must be a killer because they even warn again washing your hands with diesel fuel because of carcinogens and smoke is just unburnt raw fuel.. You may notice black smoke from out dated diesel engines, but if you look at a modern European car with turbocharger common rail direct injection diesel, you will never see any black smoke, that is because with direct injection, the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber, meaning better atomization meaning less fuel is needed during Acceleration, combined with the forced induction inter cooled twin turbo charging, forcing more air into the mixture, burns the fuel to optimal proficiency, leaving no black smoke. A modern direct inject turbo diesel engine, combined with lower sulfur content diesel is in fact much more environmentally friendly than standard unleaded gasoline, using a catalytic converter, that's why some European countries give Tax incentives to cars that use this modern diesel technology. Even thought I'm not an automotive engineer, I did employ an automotive engineer as people who have read my earliest posts, realize, my business, was importing second hand Japanese Cars into Australian, but I also imported the odd European sports cars, and American corvettes and part of this process, was to make imported cars comply with Australian emission standards so they could be registered. |

Most police everywhere I have been wear tailored uniforms, which do look neater, when in the service I also wore tailor made uniforms on liberty and civilian made work dungarees,,more money but looked better than sacks off the shelf at supply. I have no idea why the color would make em look meaner.
maybe that high peak hat like the SS wore, also makes a foot taller,,also looks silly. |

I just think that pollution in bangkok is the worst thing about living there. Of course the traffic. If it weren't for all those problems Bangkok would be a nice place to live........... About Bangkok air pollution, California USA has the strictest exhaust emission restrictions in the world, and with in the next 5 year, hydrogen powered cars will most likely be for sale in the mass production automobile market, at first in low numbers, but with in 20 years will they will become quite common. As the price if Crude Oil, rises, and the cost of hydrogen production comes down. As companies like BMW have developed an internal combustion engine, that can run on hydrogen, it is possible that an internal combustion engine can run on both, Gasoline and Hydrogen, while the Infrastructure development of hydrogen service centers are developed, latter on the hydrogen powered fuel cell may be used, but problems of a 5 minute warm up, developing a fuel cell that does not need expensive metals such as platinum needs to be resolved. When the vast majority of motor vehicles in Bangkok run on Hydrogen, Bangkok will become a pleasant place to live, as hydrogen combined with Oxygen, emits basically water as exhaust. Just by the time this all happens' most of us will be either dead or two old to enjoy it. |

Ok Ok. Now I know you have all seen them. And I am sure you have read about the Lady boys in Prison Harrasing the Thai Police because their Uniforms are too tight and this turns on the Lady boys for some reason....(nothing like a man in a tight brown uniform..hmmm sexy!!)
Now here is what i do not get....Why brown?? And why do they have to be so tight?? They must be uncomfortable in all that heat.. how do they do it?? And why are the cops either really skinny in a tight uniform?? or really fat???? in a tight uniform............ Lets vote right here!!...........What color or Colour if you prefer...should the Thai Uniform be???? I say they should go with blue. Like in America..........American cops look even more scary.................more intimidating...........Brown?? That is just ugly i think...............What about you???? |

well we know nothing about you as you refused to post any info and we dont know where you are so kind of hard to make any comments.
But I have no idea why the color of a cops uniform would make a difference, but I think our cops look better that the steroid eating muscle beach bums in the USA. and most cops will not bother you if you are doing nothing wrong. |

I mean take a look around you and read the statistics...most of the pollution in bangkok comes from the public busses.... Cities do have concentrations of pollution, mainly by cars, commercial vehicles and industry, but did you know over all in Australia, green house producing gasses by car's only represent 8% of the total, commercial vehicles represent 4%, coal burning PowerStation's represent 48%, agriculture represent 26% of which 18% of that comes from the methane release from the back side of cows and sheep. So when thinking about, greening the planet, think electrical power production first. |

We have all know how people point the finger "over there" when we are talking about problems "over here".. Standard reaction for the peson who wants to apologize for the established order..We are supposed to belive that things are the way they should be?? Going to lumpini today??? |

About the black smoke being unburned fuel is incorrect. Diesel fuel is in fact almost clear, but they put a die in the fuel to give it a colour, so you can differentiate from other fuel's. Unburned fuel is in fact almost invisible, it is the burnt carbon particles mixed into the unburned fuel, that you actually see during Acceleration, created because there is not enough air mixed into the combustion process to fully burn the fuel into carbon dioxide gas, so a carbon solid is produced instead. In Fact unburned fuel is always emitted in all internal combustion engines, at all speeds, but more so during heavy Acceleration and this part of the fuel is dangerous""""""
Exactly what I said, but changed into double talk,, Direct injection is better for even fueling and atomization on newer direct injection gas engines but still they can't attain high enough pressures on gasoline to inject at the pressure of compression or at the time of firing so it in injected and compressed then fired with a spark,Just the same as carburated engines, but a more even distribution of fuel, be nice if they could do it at or before top dead center, but they can't as they do and have always done with diesel. Diesel engines have enough heat of compression to ignite diesel, cars don't have that kind of heat so is always done with spark. Diesel engines usually run at 16 to 1 compression ratios or more and the heat of compression is more than hot enough to melt tin, therefore the extra heavy construction. gasoline would go off in them but all you have is an explosion and thats it, No power,,Pump gas is no good at high compression pressures. so auto engines are average 8-1 or at most 10-1 unless specialty engines running on special high octane fuels and then you can go higher.just like running low octane[reg gas] in high performance engines,They PING because of explosion in the cyl. they are higher comp. so need premium grade gas as the more octane the slower the fuel burns, reg. in the cyl. explodes,,Hitest starts and increases in burn for the duration of the power stroke. thats why you see flames coming out of the stacks on NASCAR and other racing engines,,special octane fuels=longer burn. Black smoke from gas engines as well as diesel is still unburned fuel, more is going in than will burn and is dropped out the exhaust, more fuel than can be burned for reasons of to much fuel for the volume of ox in the air, or of just air because of plugged air filters,, to rich gas mixtures and low compression, to low heat of combustion, bad injection timing, plugged or damaged injector nozzles, low turbo boost pressures allowing to much fuel volume,Both gas and diesel, even the newer diesels will smoke when stepped on and fuel flow is increased before turbo boost levels come up to required pressures, and they have a regulator on them that does not let to much fuel in until turbo pres. is up. gas engines also smoke black it by chance the choke is stuck or the cold starting device on the injection system is not working correctly,, any number of reasons can cause it,,but black smoke is always unburned fuel, gas or diesel and there is not anything else in this world that will cause it,And the dye, red yellow, brown or green is of no consequence, Grey or white smoke is oil smoke. |

Not a direct quote, simply what I have learned over time. In the literature on stress a distinction is made between stressors, which are external factors that are stress provoking, and stress, which is an individual reaction to the presence of stressors in one's environment. Thus, stress is how one presonally reacts to the presence of stressors, rather than their presence per se.

We are supposed to belive that things are the way they should be?? Thus it is for those who seek to follow the way. The Tao is, and the sooner you accept the way is not as you want it, but simply as it is, the sooner you will learn true peace. To be otherwise is to live your life as a salmon, always striving, simply to reach the ultimate destination, i.e., death. Those who seek to save the world are destined to live a frustrated life, the world is not yours to save.

As a side note, we do not avoid 'sensitive topics' we do discuss the negative aspects. We just do not do it on the main pages that the public can see due to the flaming wars that would start. We have a regulars area and after a user is here for a certain number of posts the area is then open to them for discussion.
We only perfer to make sure they are capable of mature debates and discussions before they go into that area. We don't need the drama frankly, that is why we wait. I do hope you will be around for that time to come. |
