![]() A "possessed" man runs uncontrollably through a crowd at Wat Bang Phra, Nakhon Chaisi This weekend I went to witness the Tattoo Festival at Wat Bang Phra in Nakhon Pathom province. I have never seen anything like it. You can read about it at thai-blogs.com and also download a video clip. |

Richard,
I have just been to read your blog about the visit to the festival and would like to congratulate you on the sensitive nature of your description. I myself have 2 "sak yan" but have yet to post about my experiences. I am still undecided whether to include a page on my website about this topic as my reasons for having the tattoos are somewhat personal. I have never had the opportunity to visit this festival, your description makes me more determined than ever to try to make one of my trips coincide with one. |

Yes, thanks that was my intention. I used zoom for both stills and videos. For most of the time I was standing on the sidelines.
There are now two videos which you can download taken from different angles. http://www.richardbarrow.com/video/tattoo_festival.php |

Great video too, I think what I most appreciated was the way your cameras seem to be capturing the event from a distance in a 'documentary' style. Much unlike the cameras that were 'in the face' of the men at the temple near the front. You seem to have done a wonderful job of not interfering with the natural order of things at this festival. A great way to capture the real Thailand!
