My Girlfriend and I (both Australian) are working on a web site and want to spend a few months based near Ao Nang.
Is it possible to rent a home (flat/unit etc) similar to a middle income Thai family, what should we pay. We will be riding our motorbike in from Malaysia and doing trips to other countries whilst based there! We rock climb, dive and kayak and love the area. Cheers Chris |

Then your best bet in this situation is to rent a house in Krabi's main provincial town and ride your motorbike back and forth. If memory serves me right then it's just about 18km from Ao Nang.
There are a few smallish houses in the Ao Nang availabe for rent but best value for money are still a few Km away from the beach area. This is Thailand and it's best to just ask the local Ao Nang folk or talk to a few expats living/doing business in AO Nang for their advice. For choice however, there's lots a houses in Krabi town to choose from. A decent house outside of Bangkok in a provincial town down south shouldn't set you back more than a 100US a month (4,000baht). Unfurnished! For short-time stay and furnished you could well pay much more than that as they are few and further between in Thailand. Krabi is a touristy area though so try your best to get the 'proper' price and not get overcharged. |
