I remember goin' to Thai discos and feeling like such a pimp. I'd walk in with a bunch of white friends and everybody left, right, and center started buying me drinks and askin' if I'd give them my friends' digits and such. Oh, and I also learned that if you're gun shy about bustin' a move, all you really need is a female friend who can actually dance *and* make you look good! One of them said, 'Ok Jon, just do whatever comes naturally and I'll dance complimentary.'
Ten minutes later we're on top of a speaker with ourselves on the jumbotron! |

I hear a lot about the discotheques in Thailand. A friend of mine wants to take me some discos in Bangkok the next time I visit. So I was hoping to prepare myself a little bit before.
I was wondering how people dance in Thailand. Is it more rave style or more hip hop? In So. California, a lot of the clubs play HipHop/R&B and the dancing usually consists of people grinding on one another I know the Thais are rather modest people in general, so for some reason I would think they dance differently than western clubs. Should I expect to be jumping up & down, head bopping? Also, what type of music is most prominent within the discos? lol, and how do people usually dress? Usually, if I go out to clubs here we dress up rather fancy. The guys in buttoned shirts/slacks and the girls in stylish tops/skirts. Do the girls dress pretty provocative in Thai discos, too? -Thanks! |
