Default Dodgy translators
I have just a a bad experience with a "marriage, translation service" in Bangkok. I sent a short letter in English to be translated into Thai, it took a week and cost 1000 Baht. However the contents of the Thai translation were apparently (as I coundn't read it myself) very different from what I had written. Some of the differences may be put down to a difference in nuance or inflection- at a stretch- but I would expect better from a "translation" company.
This caused a substantial amount of anxiety and confusion for the Thai party and required a lot of explanation from me a also (at my insistence) from a representative of the company.

I don't know if this sort of thing is widespread, but I just thought I had better bring it to everyone's attention.
I wonder if anyone has any similar experiences?
