Whoops... I should have included pictures of this. Pictures of both methods can be found on this link in a pdf file.

The site isn't working right now. It is on page 40.

I usually tie my tenegui the reqular way. The hat method slips off my head, and my head is too big to use the biting method.

Regular way here.
The cap is just too.. obnoxious? Is this the word?

And the ear-covering way is fine too, but I find no problems with the regular way

Yes, alexpollijr, "obnoxious" would be an accurate description of the McDonalds cap. I think it's only meant for kids though.

What's the "ear-covering way"? Is that the one where you have to bite the tenegui at some point?

Perhaps someone can be kind enough to post some pictures of the various men tying methods so those of us who don't know the Kansai style can learn it?

A similar question (possibly for another thread) is: how do you tie your tenegui? The "regular" way, the really elaborate way which involves biting the tenegui, or do you just pre-fold it into a nice little McDonalds hat and slip it on?

right now using Kanto, but wanted to do Kansai, but don't know how to !!!!!
(Wanted to change because Kansai's style supposed to be much secured than Kanto, and also, was told, alot more friendlier to the ears).....

I have used both methods and prefer the Kansai style because it seems to be more secure. However, you cannot beat the speed and ease of the Kanto method.

Default Men tying method
Which men tying method do you prefer, Kanto or Kansai?
Kanto: the method that you usually see, where the men himo is attached to the 4th rung
Kansai: the method where the men himo is attached to the top of the men.

If you would like to know the history behind the two methods go to: http://www.obukan.com/tie-men-himo.html
