i like most of Sho kosugi's ninja movies ,Sonny Chiba had some good ones and Michael Dudikoff wasn't bad in American Ninja.
There are too many good samurai movies , especially if you're into shambara (slice n dice) ones so i'll just mention some actors and directors names:Wakayama Tomisaburo (he was a great iaidoka) and his young bro Katsu Shintaro (the raizor and the Zatoichi series...etc, if you pay attention a the end of the credits in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill, his name is included in the small homage with other great martial art movies names),Toshiro Mifune ,Tatsuya Nakadai , Misumi Kenji, Ishikawa Raizo ....and many others. Kurosawa actually hated the shambara movies ,Yojimbo for instance was meant to be a "parody".Kagemusha is my favorite Kurosawa samurai movie . |

This site has a bunch of Samurai ( & Ninja ) movies.
http://www.ninjadojo.com/ninjadojo.htm I like "The Sword of Doom" - final scene is just too much to bear - reminds me of myself after hard practice and then sensei says "Kakari - geiko again" ! Center |
