I might be getting older, but I refuse to grow up.

Age is mandatory, maturity is optional!
Well, you're only as old as you feel

I started with wanting to be a cop... Moved to california and was going to be a county sheriff until I blew my knee out at the academy... Rode the couch for six months then decided since I couldnt run anymore that I would now be a helicopter pilot. Loved the R22 and the MD600 but my wallet didnt. Moved to new york and worked at the airport again and now as a part time scuba instructors training assisant I decided to be a commercial diver now. Life seems so much better underwater for me. Been looking for a mermaid to marry while I'm down there but havent seen any... Oh well.. Guess I'm supposed to be single a little while longer...But in all seriousness... theres something magical about diving, especially on a wreck, its like a little time capsule under the waves...Knowing that I've seen things and touched things few people here have that were around up to 200 years before I was is amazing... Its like being there makes me part of the history of a ship, and being apart of history... now theres something special...

Well, you're only as old as you feel But, as my Mum says (she's 83), It all depends on who you can talk into doing the feeling!

When I was little, I wanted to grow up and get a job where I could make enough money to have hobbies. See, dreams do come true!

At first, I wanted to be an artist, but I can only draw in penceil, and can't paint/color if my life depended on it.

Right now, i'm working on getting a job in law enforcement (don't know which branch....keeping my options open for now) and am majoring in criminal justice. So far, so good.....

Along those lines:

This may seem a little pessimistic to some, but I wouldn't focus on doing a job you love. Do a job that pays lots and lots of money, so that you will have no problems doing what you really love outside of work. If I'd known then what I know now I would have been a business major with an MBA working in finance. It's easier than what I do know and pays much more. Live and learn *wink*

I'm fixing to go into accounting for that very reason...... I love history, but I have a desire to make a decent living someday. History, most unfortunatly, will not guarantee that.

I resemble that! Top marks in Cambridge Uni Exams for first language English Language and Lit and Spanish Language and Lit
as well as Chemistry.
Career Choices: Administration, Economics and Law. Mainly the first two, they'll really help with running the parlour.

I was never sure exactly what I wanted to be. I'm still not sure. I've made my own movies, drawn pictures, and wrote stories since I was 4-years-old. I think I might try to work in animation or behind the scenes in movies.

just as a neat little topic:
What did you always wanted to be when you were small? Did your dreams come true?
Was a toss up between rock star and history teacher. Became disenfranchised with the U.S. history taught in schools so went the rock star route. Did some minor touring on the West Coast for 2.5 years then got married and settled down. /sigh That whole pay the bills thing.. still give the odd lesson or 2 or sit in with local bands and give 'em advice on their act.

Law is good too, but my opinion is that on the easiness vs. pay vs. job availability plot, the sweet spot is finance. It sucks that middlemen seem to be the largest group of high-earners in the world. The old USSR had it right when it came to science and engineering - ah, those were the days j/k.

Per the subject of this thread - I wanted to be, among many other things, a race car driver. Now I just drive way too agressively, which, coming from Boston, is saying a lot.

I wanted to be an astronaut, but that is not really an option since I have bad eyesight. (Does it echo in here? )

Now I am a confused Computer Engineering student who knows he likes to program stuff and perhaps build little electronical thingies... Not sure exactly what I want to work with yet though. I have been starting to look on the swedish counterpart of CSI, since they seem to do cool stuff and I know that they have hired people with my education before. (And no, I do not live under the delusions that I will solemnly solve murders using not yet invented technology )

Budo instructor... nah, not as a work. And, it is not too exotic since I will probably be instructing kendo next semester.

That sounds so cool! And, as a plus, I suppose once you're in the government there's so many careers you can move to from then on....
