I'm writing a report on how information on the internet can be misleading or innaccurate. One of the supporting paragraphs goes over using misleading information to sell a product. "Wallhangers" was one of the first things that came to mind, seeing as they appeal to people who have interests, but no real knowledge with swords. Problem with these sites is they're like little kids.
They pop up whenever you don't want them to, and generally make a nuisince of themselves. But when you acutally need them for something and you sit down to look for them, you can never find them ![]() |

ha ha...yeah, I guess I could throw in something like "you know your obsessed with kendo when you make references to kendo in your essays" or something like that....or "when you cite something about kendo in your essay, you notice that it goes on for about four pages longer than you intended it to". Sigh. Now I have to revise my essay...again.

http://www.karatedepot.com/wp-sw-09.html Hey, I just noticed something. Isn't this the same model as the sword from the infamous HSN incident? It looks almost exactly the same.

yeah...I tried both e-bay and a yahoo search for "katanas". Not a whole lot of luck. I'm no sword expert, and only a few of the swords on e-bay are fully disassembaled...i've tried to look for signs of forgery..but again, i'm no expert. I guess the kind of sites i'm looking for are ones that sell swords that they try to pass of as genuine or "battle ready", but are really..well...wallhangers. Either that, or i'm looking for images with obvious defects...kinda like the swords under the wall hanger thread in the iaido section..but I need to find a site that sells them...grrr...so much like little kids....

I've got a few that you might be interested in.
http://www.a2armory.com/ http://www.mwart.com/ http://store.southwestblades.com/index.html http://www.centuryfitness.com/ (Look for the aluminum sword section) The first three should have plenty of examples, especially the second. Most have just regular Western swords but the third has a lot of katana wallhangers. Hope this helps. |

Also, look up the products on www.asseenontv.com, plenty of crap there. |
