Some kind of reindeer games at a dojo picnic maybe??
It's a game where you try to pop the other person balloon, when your balloon is gone you can't play any more. :-(
Another game has two teams and eacher team has one caption where you have to try and kill the caption by popping both balloon. all the others poeple have one balloon and when they get the balloon poped they can only watch from the sides lines

[QUOTE=Ralutin]but never outdoors and wearing street clothes underneath...that's a little backwoods for my taste. [QUOTE]

The pics are taken in July or Aug, when it's hot out. you run around in full bogu and gi with Hakama and tell me you dont get heat stroke.
Some football players have died due to heat stroke, that the deal for the street clothes

We've played that balloon game a couple of times at my dojo and in Japan once, but never outdoors and wearing street clothes underneath...that's a little backwoods for my taste. For my dojo it's a fun little end-of-the-year thing we do, but we get whacked to death as most kihon goes out the window.

It was me who made the 'backwoods' comment and I'm sorry for it. I know that Toronto is the home for world class kendoka and I didn't mean any disrespect to them.

Gomenasai.

Understandable...conditions are the same in Japan, 30-35 deg C temperatures with >75% humidity. I don't know how they do it...:P

Well, while maybe the way you said it may have come across a bit harsh, I too agree that they look silly in shorts, t-shirts, and shoes. I think to try and say it doesn't look awkward is disingenuous, and heat really isn't an issue. But since they are actual kendoka, it's their business as far as I'm concerned, unlike those unfortunate kids in the other thread being mislead by some so-called sensei. The difference being that these guys know that their balloon game isn't kendo and appear to be out for a laugh, but those kids were even getting trophies for their efforts.
