Shikai Sensei, President of SCKF and the head Sensei at Chuo dojo in Los Angeles is invited on the KROCK (92.3 FM in New York City) morning show on February 3, 2006 around 8 a.m eastern time.
Since Howard Stern's departure to satellite radio, David Lee Roth, a former lead singer of Van Halen took over as the DJ of the 92.3 KROCK morning show in January of 2006. David Lee Roth was a former Kendo & Iaido student of Shikai Sensei and when he heard of Shikai Sensei's visit to New York City, he asked the Sensei to be one of the guest on his show. This is a golden opportunity to promote Kendo to the entire nation and great to hear a familiar voice on the air. Please tune in if you can. |

If you are under the assumption that I am David Lee Roth, I am not.
I train in New York City and just passing the word to everyone since Shikai Sensei is here. I believe Shikai Sensei taught David Lee Roth Kendo for about 6 months but Iaido, I am not sure. I just wanted people to know that David Lee Roth was taught both Kendo & Iaido. |

Looks like besides a live stream they also post the show broken down by hour on the same day as broadcast, so everybody can listen. There are also archives, but I have no idea how comeplete they are.

Ya shikai sensei was just at practice last week at Venice. I didn't know about the interview so I didn't ask him.
Listening to the interview, I think DLR explained things well, in general as well as shikai sensei. I'm not sure about the physically 100% but mentally and focus wise, you should be 100% committed when you are actually practicing. I think the main question was from a viewer that asked "what made you take this form of martial arts as compared to taekwondo, karate, etc." I didn't get to hear the answer because my lead engineer walked into the room . That is a big question to answer because it can be a pivotal point in the speech to promote kendo. Why don't we get to practice at DLRs place? haha Tim |

Ignatz is you Okano san?
Missed you at he dojo tonight, you can take it easy on me next time. Happy that they took good care of Shikai Sensei by picking him up with the limo and DLR asking relevant questions to Kendo (somewhat surprised). They want to invite him again so we should hear him soon, at least after the World championship. dk |

What suprised me is that DLR the ex van halen "crazy" front man took up kendo at the age of 12 (correct me if i'm wrong) and on top of that he lived in the same neighborhood near the home of a kendo sensei the lucky bastard. Tim |
