Yeah, there are a lot of times when I hate school. But then I wonder when I'm done school and in the working world, will I miss it?

School is many things... a place of learning... a place to learn to socialize with others... a place to learn tolerance and appreciate diversity... a place to learn random facts for trivia... a place to learn a trade to use in your career... a place to sort people into useful nitches in society... a hoop to jump through to get where you want to go... etc etc etc

The list is endless, debateable, constantly changing depending on who is in charge of politics at the time, and all of them at the same time....

What matters is that you find your own purpose to why you are in school, work towards that goal, and be happy with that goal... I hated school as a student, but I love it as a teacher... strange little quirk there isn't it? When you make your own meaning for it and try to work the system to fit that meaning as best as you can, then there will be a point to all your effort. Most of what the politicians and many of your teachers and professors have said is going to be crap unless you agree with them. Find your own path if you want to make it more than a stupid little rat race that many find it to be...

I also believ that school should get more focus, in these times, the schools are what create you as a person.
Most people dont have the time to change when theyre working, life in general is too fast to change things afterwards, power to tha education system, and more good teachers as nodach!

ive done school, and college, and university, and post-grad diploma. i have no job and just a couple of pieces of paper to show for all my debt.

my advice, dont go on to further education unless you really have to. go out and get some real skills, e.g joinery/fork lift truck driving. Thats where all the jobs are, but i have no real skills to get them.

im over qualified to be a receptionist and under qualified to be anything else, and my grades arent good enough to get me a training contract. it sucks. i should have left school after gcse's and gone to be an office junior, then moved my way up-isnt heignsight a wonderful thing.

I am taking Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering. I just finished presenting my 5,000,000 lb plane with a 400 ft wingspan and a rocket that costed US$9.7 Trillion. Trust me, I was just as confused as you might be now.

There are certain aspects in my major that makes you wonder why you chose this over some liberal arts major, but in the end, I really enjoy what I am doing.

I'm a research scientist (pharmacology/molecular pharmacology) and have worked in both academia and industry (large pharma and small pharma). I don't know what Rottenpunk's degree(s) are in, but if you are going to follow the path of higher learning you have to be realistic about what you want and things. Many higher degrees are pretty much useless in terms of getting a decent paying job. Make sure to investigate not only whether you like doing a particular thing, but also that there are jobs and advancement opportunities in the field you want to pursue.

As much a pain as school is, there will definitely be times when you wish you were still there after getting out in the workforce..lol

I don't know about where you live, but in the States the test to become a police officer is one of the hardest tests there is. Keep in mind I am referring to the academic test, not the physical and training ones. People who bail out of school have no hope of becoming police officers there. Check the requirements of becoming a police officer, because you may have taken yourself out of the running...

Sales Assistant at Boots the Chemist. Yay!

Erm, did a tiny bit of further Ed, did my AS Levels. Originally studied Biology, Chemistry, Pyschology, Health and Social and Performing Arts. Left the country to work, came back half way through the school year and carried on with Performing Arts. Got sick of school and left.

Have no desire to ever go back to school or college unless truly needed. Have no desire whatsoever to go to Uni. Would like to join the police as soon as I turn 18.

Wow, all these really clever people do Kendo! All those degrees and stuff... wow...

Those A levels seem faintly ridiculous don't they? :P In the school I'm in I have to take them and they are worth sod all in this country. I did my gfces and I've got a piece of paper saying I can write better english than most native speakers. However outside Britain and maybe some other Commonwealth countries that paper would be more useful if it was toilet paper.

BTW I "work" doing exam counseling for rich idiot kids part time in the summer. I handle languages (english and spanish) and Biology and one of my friends does maths, chemistry and physics. I plan to go to university to study economics.

I loved finals!!! You may think I am crazy, but here is why...

During finals, there was no more homework, no papers, no classes, no nothing... just review sessions that usually weren't that helpful to me so I skipped them and chillin' listening to music with friends while studying during the exam cramming period. Yes, there were times when the studying would be long, but if you get a nice vibe going with relaxing music that you can still study to at the same time and hang with friends, it was one of the better times of the year. Of course for the people who were stressed out over serious exams, it was hell, but the more laid back people enjoyed it just like I did.

Nah, I can see your point. I've had examperiods that were very soft and enjoyable. But the conditions were on the other hand different. At that time I had one exam, or maybe two which were spread out over two weeks, and I had studied hard.
This time I have three exams on a short period of time, and I have studied perhaps half or a third of as much as I should have (kendo- and iaidopractice are one of the villains stealing my time) so I am quite worried.

Right now I'm kind of glad I go to a college that has a trimester schedule because I get to sit back and relax while most of my friends are freaking out over finals. Life is sweet right now . But then again, I do end up not finishing the year until mid June unlike my friends who finish in May so it all balances out.
