I walk on average and hour and a half everyday. I can't run anymore because its absolutely terrible on my lungs. The exercise that i've gotten from walking shows itself in other activities too.

You are absolutely right. I guess tonight I'll have to tell my ji-geiko partners, "I've been naughty, wanna beat it out of me?" I don't think that'll get a good reception from the senseis though, and the Japanese kenshi won't understand anyway.
Likely not, but it is interesting reading, nonetheless.

I hear lots of pros and cons about walking v. running. I hear that a good amount of walking every day can get you worked out as much as running does and it's less stress on the knees...any input? I've found myself trying to walk for a while but always end up jogging in the end...whatever.
You can burn just as many calories walking (it just takes longer), so it's OK that way for losing weight. But you won't get your heart rate up high enough to improve your cardio fitness. If you're worried about your knees, ride a bike or swim or row or whatever.

FWIW in addition to kendo I also play judo, run and lift weights. In a good week I'm in the dojo, gym or on the road for 10-12 hours.

15 minutes of stair stepper everyday when I wake up
2 hours of kendo twice a week and 3.5 hours once a week
40 minutes fast walking three times a week at least
i hour pilates when I have time (usually once a week)
3-4 hours a day of intensive arm and finger workout (homework, internet and "others")
4-5 weekly hours running around in circles while panicking about the need to do any of the above.
It's also important to say that I undercut all that with a heathy dose of pie, pasties and other unhealthy food. For example, a staple of the mexican diet is Torta de Tamal with atole. That consists of lardy dough between two loaves of dough with liquid lardy dough for drinking. Yummy.

... About 800m running uphill (inc. 2 flight of stairs) going to work, and then 800m again running downhill off work. Both during rush hour in the busiest district in town, and with a 4kg laptop on my shoulder.

My right index finger is the fittest part of my body - clicking 214,349 times on the mouse button... The muscles in my eye socket only came 2nd

Wednesday: Golf (9-hole game)
Thursday: Kendo (5PM-6.30PM)
Friday: Kendo (5.45PM-7.45PM)

Keiko 4 nights a week
Cardio 2 mornings a week
Weights 2 mornings a week
Squash once a week
Bartending 2 nights a week
Mouse clicking, numbercrunching and brain stressing 40 hours a week

Partying usually twice a week but sometimes rears its beautiful head more during a week.

I'm thinking about only going to keiko 3 times a week, I love Kendo but I really need sometime to myself and my loved ones in order to enjoy the fruits and benefits of what I'm doing. Oh the decisions...
