How physically active are you?

Do you do anything else besides kendo? such as go to the gym?
Tell us how much you physically participate in a week.
well, i do kendo thrice-four times(3, can you say that??) a week, and i train some at home, as well as doing push ups etc, stretching and such. Overall, im quite lazy though-at least when im doing homework.....=)

My bf goes to Karate on Wednesday evenings straight from work, and because we go home together, it was either watch and wait for 2 hours or join in. So I did. I really like the first hour of hard fitness and body conditioning.

On weekends or sometimes during lunchtimes I like to play squash. Keeps the stamina up

Program C++ four hours per week, Java 8 hours per week, PHP/XHTML 2 hours per week. Go to loud, packed, smokey clubs every so often, live off of left over barbeque/pizza. My doctor gives me two weeks to live.

Lucky Bastard currently doing 40 hours a week of Pascal on Open Vms. Must be some kind of medevil training scheme.

Chook: You beast do you even have time to drink beer?

Oh yeah and for me, besides my "medevil training scheme", 2x 1:30 hour of keiko.

15 minutes of stair stepper everyday when I wake up
2 hours of kendo twice a week and 3.5 hours once a week
40 minutes fast walking three times a week at least
i hour pilates when I have time (usually once a week)
3-4 hours a day of intensive arm and finger workout (homework, internet and "others")
4-5 weekly hours running around in circles while panicking about the need to do any of the above.

Geez! What a health nut! j/k

Anyways, I usually run if I get the chance. But I am sitting in front of a computer all day doing stress analysis.

Kendo itself, (and this is the most I have done):

I practice 1-3x a week depending on time and which dojo i feel like going to...

On off days (and this is also the most I have done),

some running, but not too much. Maybe the length of 2-3 laps of a track.
300-500 total suburi. (not straight thru)
20 situps
20 pushups (if there is no room in the apt, then I lean up against a countertop edge and do twice as many as i would do if i were doing regular pushups)

Suburi menu (again this is the most i will do):

100 men straight thru
rest
100 total katate men (now with improved grip!)
rest
100 total kote
rest
100 total do from both sides
rest
100 total yoko men.

I usually do this sitting since I have no room to swing my shinai since great damage to apt will happen if I did (and great anger will come to apt manager).

I like that "and 'others.'" Hahaha.

Samurai999, that's some suburi menu. I'll take an order of the katate men. You and Lloromannic must have some handshake (although I wouldn't shake Lloromannic's hand after his arm and finger workout).

Weren't we just recently working on that "impure thoughts" tendency?

You are absolutely right. I guess tonight I'll have to tell my ji-geiko partners, "I've been naughty, wanna beat it out of me?" I don't think that'll get a good reception from the senseis though, and the Japanese kenshi won't understand anyway.

I hear lots of pros and cons about walking v. running. I hear that a good amount of walking every day can get you worked out as much as running does and it's less stress on the knees...any input? I've found myself trying to walk for a while but always end up jogging in the end...whatever.

I walk around so much because of school, and recently, I began after I get home from classes. I'm trying to take better care of myself to develop better kikentai-ichi.
