Dear Tattoedasshole,

let me get something straight, ive been wondering this for a while. does your name imply that your ass hole has a tattoo? or does it mean that you are an asshole who has tattooes? The latter doesnt make sense, because you seem like a pretty nice guy. The first option just sounds damn right painful. please clear this up for me

These are the same people who hide their children when we walk down the street "he's a bad man johnny, don't look at him....". Ignorant crap spouted from someone with no idea.

Unfortunatley, opinions are like @ssholes, everyone's got one.

Cool tats BTW. Samurai fighting sounds really cool!!!

Man, you are really inked up.

I had a friend who once tatooted his backside with two Chinese "Gods of Doors". The gods of doors wards off bad luck and wandering spirits, and safeguards the house. In traditional Chinese mythology, the "Gods of Doors" come in pairs, so he tatooted one on each bum, presumably to safeguard himself against unwanted intruders.

It's astounding what some people think. My personal fave is the moron who walks into a tattoo shop and the first thing out his/her mouth is "So, is this gonna hurt?" For you, today only, tattooing is not gonna hurt!!!

I find tattoos to be quite informative, for example when in a club you see one of those weird tribal tatoos right above the buttocks of a lady, I can see right away she's a slut and move on (or not, depending on your taste...).
What rock did you crawl out from under? Unless she has a tat that say "I'm a SLUT", how would you know about her sexual conduct? Pull your head out of your ass, and join the rest of the world.

Mingshi - Read his posts properly! He said he waited to be sure it was what he wanted. Please don't just go off at him just because its something you don't like or wouldn't do yourself. Please? Lets play nice!

I thought for ages about getting a tattoo, spoke to a few people who have them (with mixed responses). But before I finally decided, I got engaged to a japanese girl, and being in the inlaws good books is worth more to me than a tattoo, so it'll never be!

I waited till i was 20 till i got my first, so I really put alot of thought into it (7 years worth)... My tattoos are a reflection of who I am, and where I have been. Each and every one has meaning, and memories attached to it...
Err... excuse me if I ask the wrong question, but what makes you waited for 7 years to put KANJI on your skin? What memory do you have with them..?

I would be more impressed if I was looking at something as well-composed as this:

I am a freak as well.

i keep the latter to teach my future children to think about the long term consequences of their actions.
well, that and it costs too much to get it removed...

Well, 20 years ago for me is your age now. 20 is still just a kid, lots of growing and changing to do. Hope it all works out for you - some people really do know themselves that well that young, most don't.

Tha kanji wasn't my first tattoo. Not a memory, but a concept, or creed if you will.

That is a very good point you bring up. However I'm 30 years old, and my first one was at the age of 24 - but I had a lot of thought go into it though.

The tattooist that did my back was telling me a few stories about people walking in off the street wanting completely outrageous things done, and how he tells them "its going to be permanent, now do you want to go ahead?" followed by the customer thinking again and leaving.

I guess it's all part of life though, you make some good decisions and of course there will be a few bad decisions. But I figured that if I got something done, it is going to be meaningful to me and is a milestone in my life. I'm only going to live once, so why not.

One thing is for certain, I'm happy with what I have had done.

I don't think it's mutilation, just kind of dumb. The artwork you are so attached to right now won't seem such a good idea in 20 years, and you'll still be attached to it. Tastes change, we grow as people... I shudder to think what I might have written on myself 20 years ago if I had been inclined. But you're right, it's your choice. I just think we're going to have a lot of soccer moms in a few years really regretting that tribal tat in the lower back they got back when it was trendy.

Bah. Just the type of thing I'd expect from someone with a tattoo.

Before I flame you, I'm reminded that I shouldn't generalise about people who make generalisations, that would be generalisationistist.

I have to admit, ages ago I was "never going to get a tattoo". Until about 6 years ago.

Yes, people do have opinions. But thats their right and I respect that.

Cheers for the compliment, I can't wait to get the rest of the two samurai finished off though.
