"Official" (as opposed to exhibitions held in between basho (tournaments)) Grand Sumo Tournaments are held in the odd-numbered months and alternate between Tokyo and other cities in Central/Western Japan.
Tounaments start on the second Sunday and last for two weeks. The schedule: January-Tokyo March-Osaka May-Tokyo July-Nagoya September-Tokyo November-Fukuoka You can buy tickets the day you want to see the match, but weekend dates are harder to get. |

Guess you didn't try google before you posted? This is really good site for sumo; http://www.sumo.or.jp/eng/. It has dates an locations for the May and July basho and videos from previous basho.
